<p>Assuming that you've already created the security then yes,
'Add' the security to your wife's account, but do not create a
second instance of the same security.</p>
<p>Click the 'Add Security' button.<br>
In the resulting form, you can select the existing security from
the 'Security' drop-down list.<br>
Fill in any particulars that you wish.<br>
Select the desired 'Cost Basis' method.<br>
Click OK</p>
<p>You'll then be able to enter transactions for the security in
question in the register.</p>
