Can't buy stock in new investment account
I added an investment account, transferred money into it from checking account. When I try to add a transaction it will not allow me to select "buy". When I select buy, then tab over, it switches it to xfr. This works fine in my main investment account, which I have been using for years and added transactions today.

It sounds like you have not added any securities to this particular investment account.
You have to add a security to any and all investment accounts that you intend buying that security in.

Thanks dwg. That was it. I didn't realize I had to enter securities multiple times.
I'm good now.

It makes sense to have the security definition as its own discrete entry, that way details like ticker, historical prices etc can be stored just once, you could say that by default any security should be available to any Investment account, but on the other hand if you have a lot of securities the list in any one account could be quite long, rather than just the specific securities that are or have been traded in that account.
Pluses and minuses in any approach.
