Security Graph Date

Why does my Performance/Volume Graph for prices of various securities (mutual funds) show a flat / straight line on the x-axis?

Some securities have a historical price with a straight line from 12/12/2006, 12/13/2006, 12/14/2006 or 12/15/2006 to the History price. For example, one security's transaction and historical price starts in 8/15/2014 (price: 68.690002), but the graph shows the security price starting in 12/13/2006 (price: 68.690002).

I manually imported historical price files from Yahoo Finance into the History of different Securities.

Java: 1.7.0_45 (Oracle Corporation)

Is there another post with an explanation, or a way to make the date of the prices more accurate?

Where is the 2006 starting date for the price in the graph coming from?

    Hi im.beta,

It is my understanding that the performance / volume graph is generated from the data in the 'History' table.

Just above the graph you should see the 'History' button.

You can 'Remove' individual entries in the History Table or Clear the whole thing. Be aware that clicking 'Clear' clears the entire table with no confirmation dialogue.

The flat lines are periods between price data where there were no updates. I not sure why the 2006 date is graphed unless there is a transaction with that security on that date. I can not replicate the issue on my version of MD 2014, the graph date starts with the transaction/history date.

There is no current way in MD 2014 to change the graphing. Even deleting the data the graph retains the data points.

There do not appear to be any transaction dates or history dates within the individual securities with those December 2006 dates.

Securities with transactions and historical prices before those December 2006 dates do not have this phantom date issue.

I have selected 'Remove' individual entries in the History Table. I've also selected 'Clear' to remove all the entries, and manually typed in prices and manually imported historical prices again.

    Thank you for the responses.

Same thing in a second MD file with two investment accounts.

One account has stocks in Canadian dollars with the same phantom dates: 12/12/2006, 12/13/2006, 12/14/2006 or 12/15/2006. The individual securities each show one price along a straight line, and then the historical prices.

The second account has securities in US dollars with those phantom dates. However, the graph's have random price points (like etch a sketch), and then the historical prices.

I'll keep my eyes open for any possibilities.

I enjoy MD. The Quotes and Exchange Rates and the Ratios extensions are also useful.
