Please can you download the file securityquoteloadersteve.mxt
Rename it to securityquoteloader.mxt
Start MD and install the new file.
Start QuoteLoader and set the next run date to 23/10/18 and the run time to 09:00.
Close MD and restart it.
Post the error log. Please can you copy the error log to a text file and attach the file to this post.
Once you have done this please reinstall the original 2122 file.

error log as requested.
This one seemed to have worked. I then put build 2122 back and set the date to 23rd but left the time at 09:00 and it also worked. I then put the date back to the 23rd again and this time put the time to 19:00 and it did not update.

Thanks Steve, looking at the code I see the anomaly. If the next run date is less than or equal to 'today' then it checks the time to run. If the time to run is later than 'now' it waits until the time to run until it will schedule a run.
So, if you miss a day it will not run straight away when you start MD, it will wait until the next scheduled time. This was not the original thoughts on the design, but it works. You can of course do a manual run.
What I might do is change it that if the next run is less than 'today' it will run anyway. Any thoughts?

That makes sense. I think it would be a good idea to make it run if the next run day is before today. The reason being that the stocks seem to get updated at around 17:30 which is why I have it set to run at 19:00. So if a day is missed, then running it first thing in the morning would update MD with yesterdays prices.

Hi - I am still having problems with the automatic download. I have updated to the latest version of Rhumba and hleofxquotes and am running 2120 of the priceloader. The automatic download seems to pick up the right price of Northrop Grumman (NOC:NYQ) and denominate it as USD. So far so good.- see copy of errlog, This seems to get divided by the USD/GBP exchange rate before being loaded into priceloader and then the security (see attached screenshot). FYI the investment is denominated in dollars but held in a £ Investment Account. FYI I have run manually and it works correctly - see errlog and security screenshot. Suggestions gratefully received. I am having difficulty reproducing this on build 2120. Can I ask that
you:
set all sources to 'Do not load' except for the NOC:NYQ.
save the parameters
Set the next run date to yesterday.
Set the run time to 9:00
restart MD and post the error log and the history of NOC.

Intriguing as it worked. Please find attached. Is there any difference in the program between a manual and automatic run? Also log file shows something got updated for all my USD stocks even though I only ticked NOC.

Well there is nothing obvious. SO I have created build 2123. This now remembers the debug level.
Please down load it and install in the normal way.
Open up MD and Quote Loader
Go to the Help menu set the debug level to Detailed
Let Quote Loader run as normal with your stocks and currencies
If you still have a problem please upload the complete errlog.txt file.
You can turn the debug level back to Info or Off if nothing is wrong.

Hello. I am writing again to say THANK YOU once again to Mike, Derek, and all for their work on automating the quote loader. I have a simple demand -- updating quotes to a dozen or so U.S. mutual funds -- and it is being met nicely now by the MD extension. It's a mystery why MD support could not have accomplished this. And that makes me worry about the long-term viability of MD.
Leaving that aside, however, I want to report that the extension works fine on my MacBook running High Sierra 10.13.6 and using the Yahoo option. Thank you.

I'm a fellow user.
There are differences between what Mike and the team can do as individuals and what Moneydance can do as a corporate entity.
The Infinite Kind approached FT but were told that they do not have a license to redistribute the data they have via a channel and Moneydance is considered a channel, and of course receives money for the sale of the product, there is thus a good legal basis for taking action against TIK if they used the data. The quote loaded is provided free of any charge, no one receives any money for it so there is no commercial benefit. Moneydance is Personal financial management software, so it can be said that the Quote loader is being provided for free personal use, and the conditions of free use of the FT site is that it must be for personal usage.
Yahoo i.e .Verizon, basically told everyone to p**s off (a very short sighted decision in my view) and that they are not licensed to use the data feed. TIK complied with this in Moneydance by moving to Alpha Vantage (how good or bad they are is not relevant) So again there is no legal basis to go after TIK and keep the lawyers employed. There is no profit, or good PR, to be gained by going after individuals that receive nothing for the system either.

I have been struggling for months with the slowness and unreliability of the Quotes and Exchange Updater and just checked Quote Loader out. I tried it for my securities (equities and mutual funds) and exchange rates, it works like a charm and loads fast! No more waiting 20-30 seconds per security to load with AlphaVantage. With 50+ securities what a time saver. Much appreciated and thanks for a great alternative extension!
Version: Moneydance 2017.10 (1706), running on iMac Retina 4K 21.5" 2017, macOS High Sierra 10.13.6.

Just a quick "Thank you" for this extension and the clear instructions. I'm still trialing MD and trying to get all the features I want to work - I'm running MD and Quicken side-by-side as a check.
It worked just fine with updating my Vanguard fund prices here in the US. MD version 2017.10 (1706) on Windows 7.

Am trying to get this going with only moderate tech knowledge. Working from pdf guidance 5.1.
Fell at first hurdle as I don't understand "drag and drop into the Moneydance side bar".
My sidebar is a list of accounts!
Can you be more specific please?

It’s said a picture paints a thousand words or in this case a video. Use the link in the PDF page 1 to the YouTube Video to see Drag and Drop in action. All that it means is you highlight the file you want to install in you file finder/file explorer hold the left mouse key and drag the file to the Moneydance Side Bar (the side bar is the description Moneydance uses for the list of accounts, reports etc.) and drop it to copy it to Moneydance. If after this explanation and taking a look at the video this method does not work for you just post and I will describe an alternative approach.

OK - so I was doing what your youtube clip is doing.
The difference is that in your clip the pointer is moving a rectangle with a file icon in it.
When I do it, I'm carrying a grey-shaded text box with the name and http address of the securityquoteload file (see my attachment for printscreen of the move)
I had successfully drag-dropped the relevant files into a folder using file explorer
Maybe there's a way of getting them into Moneydance from there

What operating system is your computer running, maybe there is an issue with drop and drag using the system you have.
The two files ending in “.mxt” can be installed as follows.
In Moneydance click on EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS – ADD FROM FILE. Navigate and open each in turn. To install hleOfxQuotes.jar open rhumba under EXTENSIONS and with the “Install” tab selected Drag and Drop hleOfxQuotes.jar into the rhumba window. If this does not work as descried in the PDF post with your computer operating system and I will investigate further.

Thinking further when you went to the download site to obtain the three files did you use Drag and Drop to get them into your file explorer? If so, this is the problem.
On the download web site click first on securityquoteload.mxt and download it in the normal way. Do the same for the other two files. You only use Drag and Drop to install the file into Moneydance once they have been downloaded.

Loving the auto-update feature, thanks so much.
Just a thought - any chance a run time such as 10pm could be added? This would pick up quotes after close of UK/EU/US exchanges whilst still being on the same calendar date here in the UK/EU. (I'm assuming that running the updater whilst the exchange is open returns the current live/15min delayed quote?).

The problem with getting the extension from your site was my interpretation of the instructions.
It seemed to me that I could download by drag and dropping directly from your Downloads page into the sidebar of Moneydance. No good.
But once I’d downloaded into a folder on my machine first, it was then easy enough to drag & drop from my File Explorer folder into the sidebar of Moneydance.
All working – except for 7 corporate bond holdings and a US stock (these are help in 4 different accounts on my system).
65LH.L and 87PN.L are only available via FT, but they are recorded in GBX so I’ll have to fudge the Security characteristics to correct this (they are currently in GBP on my MD).
ICG3.L, IPF1.L, PHP1.L, PMO1.L and VO32.L do not load quote at all from either FT or Yahoo. These ticker symbols work fine on uk.finance.yahoo.com.
ACN on NYSE is a dollar-denominated security in my Moneydance, but the quote loader converts the dollar quote into GBP. How can I stop this?
Otherwise this is going to be much better than the previous system – in terms of speed, reliability, automation and less manual entry.
