Update
For 2019 improve colour contrast, text background, in Quote Loader window for custom themes.

Until 2019 beta is replaced by a stable release don’t replace 2017. You should only test on a separate computer not synced to your primary computer. If the separate computer has a copy of 2017 uninstall it before installing 2019. I have two items to mention. I'm currently with MD 1829 and QL 3002. Please refer to the scree capture.

First item is Next date box. In Kubuntu 18.04 LTS the entire date does not always fit. The true date in the capture is 12/31/2018, December rather than February. The entire date fits properly in Windows 10 Home.

Second item is unexpected behavior. After obtaining quotes, tick the box for Click to Select all lines then click Save Selected Values. After saving, the Select column is cleared, but the box for Click to Select all lines remains checked.

With this select all box still checked, a second Save Selected Values gets a pop-up notice about no prices being selected and to select individual lines or Select All. Perhaps when the Select column is cleared the Click to Select all lines should also be cleared? This behavior is in both Windows & and Linux versions - MD 1829, QL 3002; MD 1726, QL 2125.

Build 2126 Next run date box looks better and clears the check box in MD 1706, both Windows & Linux.
Build 3003 Next run date box looks better and clears the check box in MD 1835 in Windows.
In Linux MD 1835 and QL build 3003 clears the check, but no change in Next run box; entire date still not visible.

Just to be sure I'm running the correct combinations...

MD 2017 (1706) has:
Quote Loader 2126
Rhumba 1036
Hleofxquotes 226

MD 2019 (1835) has:
Quote Loader 3003
Rhumba 1038
Hleofxquotes 240

Two more items. First...is there some enforced time out either from QL or Yahoo or MD for manual "Get prices?" I am not referring to real time vs. 20 minute delay. It's looking like Get prices works on first click, then on subsequent click a couple minutes later QL returns the same values as from the first click. QL acts like it's getting quotes, Previous quotes look zeroed and New Price column color changes, but "new" value returns the same.

After awhile QL will get prices. Close & reopen MD and QL can immediately "Get prices." No currency configured. I have three stocks and three indices: DOW, NASDAQ Composite, and S & P 500. All quotes through Yahoo. Maybe an individual stock will go a couple minutes with no change, but those three indices change several times every minute.

While being obsessed with "Get prices," I came across another little quirk. Click Get prices and let them download. Tick the Click to select all lines, but do not save; do not click Save Selected Values. Click Get prices again. The New Price and Select columns clear. Click to select all lines remains checked.

Now, back to looking at a MD 2019 hang (1835 & prior builds) that I get in Linux with File > Export Backup... to a mounted NTFS data partition. MD 1706 gives an error message, 1835 hangs on the message. I think MD has an issue with fstab owner and group. I think MD should export the backup, no error. But I've been wrong before...just ask the ex-wives. :)

Regards,

Linux QL 2126 in MD 1706 seems okay. See the attached QL_2126 jpg.

Take a look at the QL_3003 jpg which is QL 3003 in MD 1835 Linux; neither show the full date in next. In the attached QL-_3003 jpg next run for securities is supposed to be 01/06/2019. Next for currencies is supposed to be 12/31/2018.

And looking at the screen captures side-by-side, I don't see check boxes in the QL 3003 Select column. Clicking anywhere in the Select column next to a ticker will put a check in that column. Actually, I don't see any check boxes on the screen though checks will appear if where the box maybe belongs is clicked; see QL_3003_1835_checks.

I'm a little confused on design intent. Maybe you were going for a no visible box look in Linux with the 2019 version? It looks decent. Maybe it's my Linux color scheme or MD color making no boxes show? The boxes are visible with QL 3003 in Windows.

Visible boxes in the Select column aren't really needed since clicking anywhere in the area produces a check. Clicking the text at bottom for Click to Select all lines and Include Volume Data produces checks when clicking the text (visible box not needed).

However, top text clicking for Include zero accounts? and Process Currencies doesn't result in checks hence my confusion on design. If those two items at the top (Include zero... and Process Currencies) resulted in checks when the text was clicked (like at bottom), then color scheme and box visibility don't matter much.

Oh, Help at top right doesn't show a box or highlight around the text, but does work when clicked. So, I suppose make all the boxes visible or just make that top text clickable or go for both depending on design intent. I'll play with box visibility by changing Linux and MD color schemes if I have time later.

Okay, maybe not Mike, but I found the QL 3003 / MD 1835 check boxes there. Changing Linux color schemes had no effect. However, changing MD theme to Dark Mode made the check boxes visible. Amazingly, that also fixed the next date boxes. The next date boxes dates completely fit in Dark Mode. Refer to QL_Dark.jpg attached.

Dark Mode is the only MD theme where the check boxes were visible to me. There's other strangeness on the Dark Side. Notice the Close Window box. Yes and No are left and right respectively. Now check QL_Close1.jpg for Yes and No. They have switched to Right and Left and the box style is completely different.

Mike, your check boxes and next dates may be a MD theme issue. Perhaps the new MD version has driven Sean to the Dark Side? I did notice a MD issue switching MD themes. I was on Default theme, switched to Dark Mode where I found your boxes. Then I went back to Default.

MD didn't properly switch back from Dark Mode. See MD1835ColorDefault.jpg and MD1835ColorsChange.jpg. The first is before switching to Dark Mode and second is after switching back. I put a note on Slack about the theme.

When you change the MD Theme you have to restart MD to make sure the theme has an effect. As I am using Java I don't have platform specific code. Also, my extension is written with the philosophy that the user is going to use MD in a normal manner to manage finances.

Though I understand your desire to investigate the various interactions between Linux and MD when you change the colour schemes I think you really need to take responsibility of working out the effect of your changes. I have added a parameter to the Next Run date display that ensures that the field is 10 characters wide which works on Windows and Mac.. It should work on Linux. As has been said I don't have a Linux system and can not test my changes on Linux.

Hi sprimost

You are in the wrong thread to discuss Quote Loader issues relating to 2017, but perhaps they relate to 2019 as well.
I am a windows user and will test your comments relating to installing the Quote Loader extension when no other extensions are installed. Certainly, on windows there is no need to uninstall Quote Loader extensions before loading new builds, the only restriction as outlined in the PDF is if both “hleOfxQuotes.jar” and “rhumba.mxt” are updated, install “hleOfxQuotes.jar” first. During testing I have move back and forward through dozens of builds and have never had to uninstall. Mike has access to a Mac and I guess he will comment. However, neither of us use Linux, hleOfxQuotes may be able to shed some light.
In any event, in operation I am glad it's producing the goods.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/467295682019-01-18T23:28:08Z2019-08-02T15:37:44ZQuote Loader Security/Currency price loader for Moneydance 2019

Can you expand on what "extension manager

I thought it might appear in the 2019 version, if I was seeing it in the
2017 version, so I posted in 2019 rather than having to cross post in
two different threads.

As to what I saw, I don't remember the precise error code, but extension
the sequnece of events, I might have installed two of the three
extensions, done a restart of MD, and then installed the third without
restarting again.

I think it is a minor issue, and not to waste too many brain cells on
it. The instructions are clear, and the warnings do make it clear to
back-up everything.

Hi sprimost

Windows, installing Quote Loader test 2017.10(1706). Uninstalled all extensions as well as deleting the “.rhumba” folder. Followed the PDF to install QL. Experienced no issues. Tried installing the two extension “securityquoteload.mxt” first then “rhumba.mxt”. Also tried the reverse order still no issues. Then installed hleofxquote.jar. I also tried installed the two extensions, restarted Moneydance then installed hleofxquote.jar, no issues. So, whatever issue you had on Linux I can’t reproduce it on windows.
The only thing I can think I did differently on the laptop and tablet, was that I downloaded the extensions prior to updating to MD 2019.1, Whereas on my primary PC I updated to 2019.1 before down loading the 3 extensions.
Is it OK to stay with version 225? If not, then any help to install version 240 would be appreciated.

Build 225 is for Moneydance 2017 while build 240 is for Moneydance 2019

The file on the Moneydance 2017 (2015) site is 21.8MB while on the Moneydance 2019 site is 24.5MB.

I have now just installed Quote Loader for Moneydance 2019 and the correct versions are installed

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/467295682019-01-30T07:03:42Z2019-08-02T15:37:43ZQuote Loader Security/Currency price loader for Moneydance 2019

Thanks dwg,

I have tried again to load hleofxquotes from the 2019 download page (24.5 MG), version 240, but I continue to get version 225.

I also tried to update from the rhumba install link function, but continue to get 2015 download page. So this link is not up to date.
