Quote Loader Security/Currency price loader for Moneydance 2019
The Infinite Kind has recently released a new version of Moneydance for testing/preview. It is called Moneydance 2019 and can be found at https://infinitekind.com/preview. It has a number of changes in particular in the storing of Security Prices. In addition the base version of Java used to run Moneydance has been updated from Java 1.8 to Java 11.
With this in mind I have released a new version of the Quote Loader extension. It can be found at https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2019/downloads/.
IMPORTANT Do not run the old versions of Quote Loader with Moneydance 2019. Do not run the new versions with Moneydance 2017.

Post 205 at https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/investments/4039-quo... list the current builds that make up Quote Loader. When you run Quote Loader the builds are listed. Compare the two.
Also, if under EXTENSIONS – MB EXTENSIONS INSTALLER you scroll down to the section covering Quote Loader it will check the build numbers, as listed and if you are out of date then the UPDATE button will be active, clicking it will update the builds.

Hi - I'm really sorry but this is all very technical and I don't have an MBE extender option in my version 2019 anyway. Is there a simple way to download and manage quotes for us non specialised users ? Thanks a lot

A quick question for Mike Bray.
I'm working on an extension and I'd like to include your MRBPreferences class, but the header on MRBPreferences.java doesn't say anything about copyright.
I wanted to double check that it's ok to include a copy of this file in my repository.
(I'll change strFileName to the name of my extension so there's no conflict)

Quote loader was removed by moneydance when the program went back to demo mode. I tried to reinstall the quote loader after re-registering the program. It runs manually but will not run by itself at the appointed time. I could not get the .jar program to install. I think I missed something on how to do this. Help please.

When you run Quote Loader across the top what are the three build numbers?

When MoneyDance reverted to demo mode, the quote loader and the mb
extension installer were taken out, so I downloaded the MB extension loader
(Mike Bray extension loader 1). and imported it and then grabbed the quote
loader from the MB extension loader.
Quote loader says, MoneyDance Quote Loader 3016 - Rhumba 1058 -
hleofxquotes 259.
Did I skip a step? I could not find the file on my PC to go step by step.

As you have the correct Quote Loader builds installed it’s unlikely you missed a step during installation provided you restarted Moneydance when requested.

Tells you everything you need to how about Quote Loader including the installation process.
Can you post a screen shot to show the auto update settings, plus confirm that Moneydance is running at the time set for update and if you have the Quote Loader running at that time or not?
Also, under the Quote Loader HELP button set TURN DEBUG ON/OFF to DETAILED.
Close and reopen Moneydance. If Quote Loader does not update at set time post the Moneydance errlog.txt file.
File can be found at C:\Users\user_name\.moneydance\

here is the screen shot. will try the rest tonight and see if it updates
automatically. will try and make sure moneydance is up and running and the
pc has not gone to sleep.

Your settings look OK.
I set up a test using the same setting but 21:00 to suit local time. Auto update of prices was successful. Let us know if it worked for you.

It seems to work now. Maybe my pc was asleep. Now if MD will stop going to
demo mode. It did that twice this month. Worked great since May. Will see
what happens. Thanks for reassuring me.

I'm a fellow user.
For a Registered version of Moneydance to go back to demo mode will generally mean that something has happened to the file config.dic. On Windows at least this file is in the .moneydance folder that exists under your home directory

Lets first check the ticker symbol you are using
Post the ticker symbol along with the full name of the security.
Provide say 2 or 3 examples.

If you can post a few example of tickers symbols along with full names of the Bonds I can test.
Without this information I cant see a way to try and help..

Sorry you are correct, the two sources used by Quote Loader do not provide prices for the type of bonds you have listed. You can still enter the price of securities that are not returned into the Quote Loader after finding them from another source. This provides a convenient way of entering the data into Moneydance.
If I am understanding your question correctly then Quote Loader returns the price per share. When you Save Selected Values the price in entered into the relevant Security Price History windows. The related Investment account register contains the holding of each security, number of shares, to enable Moneydance to calculate the value of the holdings from these two pieces of information. The value of security holdings is then available in a number of reports and in the Investment Account Portfolio and Security Detail windows.

For the Security Transaction Loader, I cannot seem to get it to work on my
moneydance. I enter all the parameters, and hit load, but nothing happens.
