Yes you can rename, however the key is that Moneydance needs to be forced to reread all the data. think of it working a bit like a browser cache.

With many things forcing a regeneration of a page or a report will do this, however a change at a base level may not, especially with items not expected to change. When you change something at a fundamental level restarting Moneydance will ensure that all information is freshly read.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/475703672019-08-28T22:34:04Z2022-10-27T16:11:35Zinvestment transactions report - name of security in the report

Hi dwg, thanks for your reply. You may be responding based upon your prior experience, but in this case I believe you may not have tested your theory before you responded.

In my testing no amount of restarting, changing of start dates etc made a difference. It may be considered implicit if you reconsider the steps I took in my original post and specifically the order of those steps. The change in the name of the security was done before (I stress the before part) the first time the "investment transactions" report was run - the report still displayed the original name of the security and not the amended name.

In other words there would be no cache for the "investment transactions" report to rely upon as it had not been run before.

In any event who would be foolish enough to rely upon moneydance and its reports if you could not trust it was using the most recent data?

d209vtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/475703672019-08-29T21:47:10Z2019-08-29T21:47:10Zinvestment transactions report - name of security in the report

I have done it on earlier versions of Moneydance.

I've retested it on the latest preview release and it appears that every report except the Investment transaction report reflects the change I made to the security name, all the security screens also appear to reflect the change, so it looks to be a bug in this specific report and it is not stepping through the data properly - Moneydance uses a form of journaling in the way it maintains data so the previous name as well as the new name both exist in the data.

This is one I believe the developers will have to look at.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/475703672019-09-16T09:32:52Z2019-09-16T09:32:52Zinvestment transactions report - name of security in the report

Hi Dave,
Thanks for reporting this! I've fixed it for the next update to Moneydance.

Thanks,
