I have to piece together how to do something through a bunch of discussions? I've spent over an hour on this and am no closer to getting my issue resolved than when I started. If I knew this was the level of help when I purchased MD I would have never purchased it.

My investments are through a broker. Can I connect to my brokerage account (UBS supported by MD) to get a daily update? How to do that. Just putting the website of UBS in the information is not going to connect to my account. Step by step, how is this done?

Susantag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/476253072019-09-14T19:39:04Z2019-09-14T19:39:05ZIs there no how to guide?

Hi,
I don't know if you will find your answer but the basic "help" info is found in the knowlege base.

I switched to this program because Quicken started getting full of bugs. over charging and had terrible service. I spent hours online with a rep and lost a lot of data do to their advice. Moneydance doesn't have the bells and wistles but it seems to work.

blessings,

I’ve been using this program since 2015 and like it much better than quicken. I decided to finally hook it up to 3 investment/brokerage accounts and could not even begin to figure out how to do it. So I have printed off the appropiate pages from the 2015 guide and now am starting to figure out how to do it.

I can’t believe IK would not at least have those links on their home page. Very frustrating.

If you do not use a mobile device (I.e. any device that uses IOS or Android as the operating system) you can use any file sharing service to sync desktop/notebook type devices (i.e. those running Windows, MacOS or Linux).

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/476253072019-09-16T08:33:40Z2019-09-16T08:33:40ZIs there no how to guide?

Hi Susan,

We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.

Which version and build of Moneydance are you using?
To check, open Moneydance and select Help --> About Moneydance (or Moneydance --> About Moneydance on a Mac) where the version and build number will be displayed.

Can you let me know which operating system you're running on your computer/s?

Firstly, Moneydance supports automatic downloads using Direct Connect, and you can view a list of financial institutions we've already established connections with on this page.

UBS Financial Services Inc. is listed, so you can set this up within Moneydance by navigating to Online --> Set Up Online Banking. Then select 'New Connection' and choose your financial institution from the list.

Most banks require that you contact them to enable Direct Connect before you can download your data from within Moneydance. Have you already done this?

When you enable Direct Connect, you'll be given the login credentials you need to connect. Generally, these login details differ from those used for other services like ATM or online banking.

In regards to syncing with other computers:

You should ensure you're running the same version and build of Moneydance on any computers you want to sync with.

Open Moneydance to access the file you'd like to share. Choose File --> Syncing. In this window you should pick a sync method.

If you have the Dropbox client installed on your computer (in the default location) you'll see the 'Dropbox Folder' sync method.

If you choose the 'Dropbox Connection' sync method, you'll be prompted to visit the Dropbox site and retrieve an authorisation code that you can enter into Moneydance.

If you want to use a shared folder service other than Dropbox, choose the 'Shared Folder' sync method and navigate to the shared folder you prefer to use.

You should also create and enter a syncing encryption password if you haven't already.

On the other computer, open Moneydance and choose File --> New (or 'Create a new account set' from the Welcome window). Select 'Open Synced File'. Choose the same sync method as the original computer and authorise if required. Select your data file, and enter the sync encryption password to match the original computer.

The steps to sync with another computer are also outlined in this article from the knowledge base.

By following these steps, each computer will have it's own copy of your data file, and also backup files. Any changes are shared with the other computer using the sync files within the shared folder you picked. If you enter a test transaction on either computer, you'll see it appear on the other after a few moments.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have further questions or need any assistance.
