My past dividend entries are showing $0 and all info related to the dividend has disappeared. How can I recover this info?

Thanks.

Which version of Moneydance are you using? Help > about Moneydance?

Did you make any edits to a dividend transaction, changes to the investment accounts in any manner, updates to the app?

Tom - Thanks for the response. I am using version 2015.6 (1298)

Attached please find a screenshot of the blank entries showing the same
date. I am storing my file on dropbox. Will this make a difference?

Dropbox should not make a difference. How were these transactions brought into MD, direct download, qfx import? Can you attach a screen shot of one o these transactions from the investment register? Is Dividend income a category or an account? Do you routinely xfer dividends from this account into another account?

Tom - I manually input the figures from my statement. I use the investment
account to keep track of the dividends. Attached is a sample for your
reference. This is from another investment account. I had trouble with this
account in the past also. I lost some of the transactions from 2015. The
account I sent to you earlier only shows $0, as you can see. Please let me
know what needs to be done to retrieve these transactions. Thanks.

    Danny,

The transaction you have posted in your last response doesn't look right to me.

Where you have "bills" I expect to see an Income category, something like Dividend, Trust Distribution etc.

Where you have "dividend Income" I expect to see a category that classifies any fees charged and the transaction implies there was a fee of $161.14

Thanks dwg. I understand the categories may be off but it shouldn’t cause the transactions to disappear or become 0 - should they? I would think it would cause reports to be inaccurate but the transactions should not be affected. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Danny,

When trying to diagnose issues I personally think that ensuring that things are setup correctly makes sure that you do not get any unintended or misleading results. Thus I believe that making sure the transactions are correctly entered is the first step in looking at the problem.

Des - Actually the dividend is still there. I saw the transactions. Now the problem is that there is a bunch of xrf transactions with $0. Please see attached. I did not input them. Why are there such transactions? Thanks.

There is a lot going on here and you are showing me different registers in different accounts. I think part of the issue is how you are recording the transactions.

First, if you go to one of the zero transaction in the 0_dividend screen shot, highlight it, right click and select show other side, you will probably be in register of screenshot 2105_11_9. Are you using either of these investment accounts as banking? Are you downloading any transactions into any of the accounts. MD does not create transactions. I am not seeing which investment account the 0 dividend shot came from. Did you input these transactions with a different value?

The transaction you show tells me that you sent 33k into the category bills and had an expense of 161 which was assigned to you dividend income category. I notice that you other dividends all have an fee associated. What is the fee, a transaction charge or exchange charge? If the idea is that you use your dividend to pay your bills, you would first record the dividend, then transfer the cash balance into the account in which you are making the payments.
