It works for nearly all securities, but not for all. One in particular is ASML Holdings NV (ticker: ASML, ID ^N07059210) When I run a test, it comes back with "Price shown in $" just like the ones that work OK.
Any ideas why this, and a few others, do not update? How to debug or investigate?

bschottmitag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481099142020-02-23T02:16:50Z2020-02-23T02:16:50ZAlphavantage not updating all securities

I'm a fellow user.

I'd suggest opening the console window menu item Help --> Show Console and then run AlphaVantage and see what messages you get.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481099142020-02-23T08:55:52Z2020-02-23T08:55:52ZAlphavantage not updating all securities

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi bschottmi

If the Quote and exchange rate updater does not work well for you and you are running Moneydance 2019 try the extension Quote Loader under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSION.

I have tested your ticker symbol ASML and both sources in Quote Loader return an up to date price, see screen shot for the source Yahoo.
Note: if you select FT as a source you need to select NASDAQ as the exchange under Exch Mod. The reason for this is ASML is traded on a number of exchanges in different currencies.

Download the PDF attached to posts 1 and have a read. To get an overview take a look at the YouTube videos by using the links on page 1 and 2 of the PDF.

Let us know how you get on or if you need help just post.

Hope this helps.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481099142020-02-23T08:56:49Z2020-02-23T08:56:49ZAlphavantage not updating all securities

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi bschottmi

I think you will find that Quote Loader has great coverage for ETFs

Give it a go.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481099142020-02-23T14:29:47Z2020-02-23T14:29:47ZAlphavantage not updating all securities

I switched over to Quote Loader a couple of months ago. So far it's been working great without any issues. It's nice to have up to date accurate quotes again.

mbrown305tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481099142020-02-23T20:30:09Z2020-02-23T20:30:09ZAlphavantage not updating all securities

I'm a fellow user.

Coverage for EFTs should be similar as coverage for Shares as they are both traded on Stock Exchanges.

Coverage of Mutual Funds will generally be spotty since they are not traded on any exchange and therefore there is often not a central source for data on them. Some are internal to a Financial Institution and some are wholesale funds and are thus only able to be purchased by other funds.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481099142020-02-23T22:09:54Z2020-02-23T22:09:54ZAlphavantage not updating all securities

Quote Loader installed and operational. Will monitor for a week and see
Thanks!!
Hi bschottmi

Thanks for the feedback.
Let us know you get on.

Have Fun.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481099142020-03-11T20:01:47Z2020-03-11T20:01:47ZAlphavantage not updating all securities

Hello,

I am a new user of MD.

I have been using the Quotes and Exchange Rates Updater (QERU) extension and have noticed that it does not: 1) update all mutual funds and ETFs in the portfolio (which I see can happen with this extension) and 2) quit updating several after 2/21/20 (MFs, ETFs and stocks (e.g. most Fidelity funds in my portfolio and CSCO among others). The latter is puzzling even if the prior has been previously documented.

Am wanting to try Quote Loader.

Question: Must one remove QERU before installing Quote Loader?

Thanks!

TRudolphtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481099142020-03-11T20:09:46Z2020-03-11T20:09:46ZAlphavantage not updating all securities

I'm a fellow user.

It is usually less confusing and removes the possibility of both trying to update prices if you do remove Q & ER. Strictly peaking it is not necessary however provided you set it not to update anything, Some of us that do testing will have both installed but will make sure one or both do not automatically run, but as we are using it with test files it probably does not matter much for us.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481099142020-03-11T20:27:04Z2020-03-11T20:27:04ZAlphavantage not updating all securities

Thanks. Appreciate the feedback. Will take a cautionary approach. Was thinking (hoping?) in the back of my mind that one may pick up some the other missed and vice-versa.

TRudolphtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481099142020-03-11T20:35:02Z2020-03-11T20:35:02ZAlphavantage not updating all securities

Just switched them out. Have not checked every ticker yet, but it appears from spot checking all previously non-updated quotes that Quote Loader is working fine. Excellent!

TRudolphtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481099142020-03-11T20:44:43Z2020-03-11T20:44:43ZAlphavantage not updating all securities

Err I think you had better shelve that thought, that one could get you into trouble.

The closest you can currently get to doing this is using Quote Loader with its ability to set a quote source on a security by security basis. Overall I expect Quote Loader to offer the better coverage.

In the long run there are discussions around bringing the two tools together and combining the best of both, but I think that is a ways of at this stage.

dwg
