Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.

Which version and build of Moneydance are you using?
To check, open Moneydance and select Help --> About Moneydance (or Moneydance --> About Moneydance on a Mac) where the version and build number will be displayed.

Can you let me know which operating system you're running on your computer/s?

If it's easier, you can send me a screenshot of what you're seeing. You can read instructions for taking a screenshot here - https://www.take-a-screenshot.org/

Thank you

Select:All
Type: All Security (also tried All Investment and All Investment + All Security)
Show: By Individual (Security is checked) <- but I’ve tried all combinations here, too.

Each combination of settings possible always results in displaying everything grouped by investment account.

I even tried relaunching Moneydance.

What combination of settings do you suggest I try again to make sure?

I note that you have asked the same question posed by me on 5th March 2020 under “Investment Performance & Portfolio Views” ---- but with admirable brevity compared with my “ramble”!
In the absence of a response from the Infinite Support Team I had assumed that shares cannot be displayed separately & aggregated outwith the individual accounts in the various graph investment options and, yes, I also have tried the various edit options without success

I am a bit surprised there isn't a default report for this as I have always needed an option to display all positions in a single portfolio (a long-standing standard feature of Quicken Mac). I do hope Infinite sees the benefit of such an option as, though I am not a programmer, I cannot believe it would take much to accomplish.

TRudolphtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481512052020-03-16T13:28:17Z2020-03-16T13:28:17ZIs there a way to display a master portfolio?

Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in responding to your query.

Thank you both for the suggestion for improving Moneydance! I've filed a ticket in our ticketing system with your suggestion, so the developers will be looking into it.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance!

It would be a most welcome feature as I am confident most investors probably have more than one account, if not deal with multiple brokerage houses. Be nice to see where you stand without having to do 'math'. Looking forward to seeing it come to fruition.

TRudolphtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481512052020-03-28T17:31:07Z2024-02-25T17:35:56ZIs there a way to display a master portfolio?

Hi Maddy,

On 16/3/20 you commented “Thank you both for the suggestion for improving Moneydance! I've filed a ticket in our ticketing system with your suggestion, so the developers will be looking into it.”

However, I see that back in 2016 when the same issue was raised under Investments and “Report by Total Shareholding” on 22/8/16, Tom Freeman of Infinite Kind support replied on 29/8/16 saying “We have a feature request ticket in for reports by security. I have attached it to this thread”
I am wondering therefore if the issue is now closer to being addressed ?

clivetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481512052020-03-29T09:48:34Z2020-03-29T09:48:34ZIs there a way to display a master portfolio?

Hi Clive,

I can confirm that the ticket is currently open and that generally means that the issue is being addressed and our development team are working on it.

Unfortunately, I cannot speculate on the ETF but stay reassured that it has been taken into consideration.

Unfortunately we cannot provide timelines for when new features will be implemented. All I can say is that a ticket has been filed in our tracking system, which will allow our developers to consider it for inclusion in a future release. I apologise if previous replies suggested this would be implemented relatively soon.

Really would be so helpful to see all your accounts combined to get a better feel for your holdings. Currently must manually enter them in a separate application in order to accomplish this. Hoping to hear this function is imminent. Thanks!

TRudolphtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481512052021-02-26T15:45:12Z2021-02-26T15:45:12ZIs there a way to display a master portfolio?

This may or may not give you something close to what you are after. I have an extension called StockGlance2020 which gives a neat/simple overview... You can find it on my site: [https://yogi1967.github.io/MoneydancePythonScripts/]

Instructions on same page.

You need to be on MD2021 build 2012+ for the extension to load.

However, if you are not on MD2021, then you can run the same program as a script.

Once you run the script, select StockGlance 2020...

(not support, just a fellow user)

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481512052021-04-04T02:18:50Z2021-04-04T02:18:51ZIs there a way to display a master portfolio?

Just throwing my vote for this as a new feature. Last year I migrated a lot of investing stuff over to MD and ended up abandoning it because there wasn't a way to look at a security across account. I need to track cost basis for a security across multiple accounts which I couldn't find a way to do.
I think this is a pretty difficult as given the account/securities model MD uses to track securities?

Jimtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481512052021-04-04T06:32:03Z2021-04-04T06:32:03ZIs there a way to display a master portfolio?

@jim. Did you look at my extract data (stock glance option) extension which displays a consolidated stock portfolio on screen?

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481512052021-04-04T13:05:08Z2021-04-04T13:05:10ZIs there a way to display a master portfolio?

@Stuart. I have not. I currently dummy have any investment data in MD. I did notice you’re pretty active here and did find your Git repo. Been meaning to take a look at all you great work but haven’t had time yet.

My needs are mostly for tracking cost basis and capital gain for a security regardless of the account. Is that something your extension can help with?
I was even just considering using only one investment account in MD for multiple real accounts and maybe use a tag (?) to note the real account for a transaction. I think that would meet my relatively simple need?

Jimtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481512052021-04-04T13:10:59Z2021-04-04T13:11:01ZIs there a way to display a master portfolio?

One thing that may need clarification is that I’m in Canada where lot matching isn’t a thing. Gains/losses must be calculated on the adjusted cost basis for a security as a whole and not within a single account.

Jimtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481512052021-04-04T13:13:27Z2021-04-04T13:13:27ZIs there a way to display a master portfolio?

Yup. You need the preview build of MD - currently 3062 and the latest (unsigned from my site). Download extract_data. Choose option StockGlance.
https://yogi1967.github.io/MoneydancePythonScripts/

It will give you a nice master portfolio on screen.

As for cost basis. It simply uses whatever MD calculates as cost basis.

When you rerun it’s an easy 2 clicks.

Try it!!! Let me know your thoughts.

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/481512052021-04-05T18:14:55Z2021-04-05T18:14:55ZIs there a way to display a master portfolio?

@Stuart - Thanks for your earlier response. I am just now getting back around to trying to address this. Must admit to some intimidation regarding the nomenclature used by MD for identification (versions, builds, updates, upgrades, etc. - mostly the use of "builds" of course). Used to just seeing an incremental decimal increase with updates and version number changes with upgrades. The latest "version" of MD available for download from Infinite Kind's website is 2021/2006. Can't locate build 2012. I assume that is a beta version?
I take it your extension will not run on 2021/2006?
Was wondering, is there anyway I could coax you into uploading an example of the report (redacted of course)?
Appreciate all you efforts to augment MD as I plan (hope) to be able to keep using it for the duration (have started over with new financial software 4 times now in 30+ years - always time consuming). My first, Dollars and $ense, was a real gem. Hated to see it go.

This will very soon probably become the next stable release version (just my view). Anyway, it should be ok to use.

I knew I was getting a new MBP so I waited until I migrated to it to investigate. I had to load MD ver 2021.1 (3068) on it and added your Extract Data extension. This is perfect! I also appreciate the option to export data for the aggregate holdings and transactions for further manipulation in a spreadsheet.

Thank you very much for putting the time and expertise into making this available!
