Hi Roy

For each security that the price for your holdings look wrong select that security and open it under TOOLS – SECURITY double click on it and check that the date for the last price is up to date.
If it looks like Alpha Vantage is not providing up to date price try the extension Quote Loader instead.

For information see post 38 at
there are a few stocks that it downloads a price that is Way Off which
throws off my total.

As an example 3M symbol MMM get downloaded a only $ 00 .0446
When the price on Yahoo Finanace shows $156.17

An Carrier Global symbol CARR get downloaded as $1.3454
When the price on Yahoo shows $ 22.78

Most of the others are a more reasonable representation of the curent value.

Do you think I could be doing somethings wrong?

Thnak you, Roy

roytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484312532020-07-01T20:16:35Z2020-07-01T20:16:35Zportfolio and total value never match my brokerage account real value?

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Roy

Can I suggest you check the Ticker symbols under TOOLS – SECURITIES – subject security – EDIT

As you can see from the test I ran the prices returned are correct. Have you used Yahoo or Yahoo HD for history data and set no exchange in Exch Mod?

Hope this helps

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484312532020-07-01T21:35:01Z2020-07-01T21:35:01Zportfolio and total value never match my brokerage account real value?

Sorry to be dumb but I can not find - Exch Mod?

I tried both of the Yahoo settings and both of the FT ones. Which did you
use and I will go with that.

Will double check all the ticker symbols again.

Thank you, Roy

roytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484312532020-07-01T21:38:30Z2020-07-01T21:38:30Zportfolio and total value never match my brokerage account real value?

Opps, found the Exch Mod, all of those are blank which I guss would be no
exchange. Is that correct?

roytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484312532020-07-01T21:53:00Z2020-07-01T21:53:00Zportfolio and total value never match my brokerage account real value?

I'm a fellow user.

"Exch Mod" is the second column in the Quote loader. It allow you to select the stock exchange the security is listed on and also to select No exchange as an option. Blank generally means use the default exchange for that particular Quote source.

There is no hard and fast rule on which source to use. Where you are in the world can lead you one way or the other, what type of prices you are looking for, whether you are after history etc and of course if one source has the price you are after and the other doesn't. If you are in the US then I would start with Yahoo, given their US base.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484312532020-07-01T23:17:46Z2020-07-01T23:17:46Zportfolio and total value never match my brokerage account real value?

I am getting closer!

Just three that don't get prices now.

Royal Dutch Shell RDS.A

I see that there are different ways to designate the "A" version. Like my
Berkshire ( I only have the "B" version)

For Quote Loader how should I enter the A or B extension? RDSA or RDS.A
or RDS-A or RDS A

And is there a way to find the best exchange to choose for a stock?

Making progross... Thank you, Roy

I have tried changing the exchange to NYSE on most of them. And tried
YahooHD for source on all but a few did not get pries so changed them to the
FT choice. Did not try the FT HD option yet. I don't know what the
differences are.
Just trying different things.

roytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484312532020-07-01T23:31:31Z2020-07-01T23:31:31Zportfolio and total value never match my brokerage account real value?

I'm a fellow user.

Look at the document pointed at by the post:

https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/investments/4914-the...

Within there is a pointer to pages on Yahoo and FT that you can use to look up symbols for each of the sources. The sources determine the format and while the base symbol is most often the same, there can be different ways of expressing different share classes between the sources.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484312532020-07-02T06:44:40Z2020-07-02T06:44:40Zportfolio and total value never match my brokerage account real value?

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Roy

You mentioned two more securities in your post

Royal Dutch Shell A
Berkshire B

I have added them to my Roy test data set and Quote Loader returns prices. See first screen shot.

Did you download and read the PDF attached to post 38 at https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/investments/4914-the...

On page 5 it gives you some guidance on finding ticker symbols, including links to both the Yahoo and FT web sites where you can you their search boxes.
For example, if you use the Yahoo link and type Royal Dutch Shell into the search box you are given a list as you can see from the second screen shot. Try each option in the list until you find the security you are looking for traded in the correct currency.

Hope this help

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484312532020-07-02T17:28:02Z2020-07-02T17:28:02Zportfolio and total value never match my brokerage account real value?

Derek,

Thank you very much for hanging in with me. These screen shots helped
tremendously!

I was trying to follow your clues and tried many combinations the last
couple days but just didn't understand all the things you sent. Just an old
guy trying to learn a lot of new things...

I am now getting all the securities to update except for one of my vanguard
ones VMFXX . But it doesn't matter since the value is always $1. I can just
have Quote Loader "do not load" this one" and leave the last price as $1.
Funny my other vanguard securities do load!

But now I an getting a picure of what I have that is within a few hundered
dollars ! Wonderful, I don't have to go to each broker and log in there to
check every time.

I am amazed at what you can do and truly greateful, Roy

roytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484312532020-07-02T17:57:21Z2020-07-02T17:57:21Zportfolio and total value never match my brokerage account real value?

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Roy

VMFXX Vanguard Money Market Reserves is quoted under the source Yahoo. Take a look at the screen shot. Does not seem much point if its supposed to be always $1.0 but there you are.

Really glad I was able to help.
