Yikes! No, running an experimental python script to produce spread sheet data does’t seem like a viable alternative to replace an already existing manually produced spread sheet. It does tell me that MD lacks the capability to generate a comparable report at this time though.

It also seems to highlight a bug where tax lots don’t update with splits—is that correct?

Christophertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484354032020-07-01T05:34:17Z2020-07-01T05:34:17ZCost Basis & Specific Shares Report

I'm a fellow user.

Alas Moneydance lacks some of the investment capability and reporting that is needed, it goes part of the way but is by no means complete.

I believe the python script is a user creating a report to give the data he needed.

Moneydance has the ability for users to add capability to the software through the use of Scripts and Extensions, which the user has taken advantage of.

With the current capability base (and even having lots is more than many personal finance programs do) it is necessary to use tools like this or indeed spreadsheets to extract or maintain some information.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/484354032020-07-01T15:28:37Z2020-07-01T15:28:37ZCost Basis & Specific Shares Report

Agree. Been using MD since about 2017 and am still happy. One has to like the support and development here too--much nicer than other shops. Not sure what happens to lots when there's a split. Hopefully MD development is aware of this issue and has added it to the features list. Hey, hey Shawn!!!

Christopher
