Hi harold

If you believe some prices obtained using Quote loader are not correct can you post some examples. There ticker symbols, the security name, the prices you are getting and the prices you expect.
Can you also post your computer operating system, version and build of Moneydance e.g. 2021.1(3034) and build of Quote Loader e.g. 3027.

Once we understand this issue it should be possible to on to sorting things out.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/489905602021-01-24T22:51:25Z2021-01-24T22:51:25ZDiscrepancy between Yahoo HD quotes and transactional quotes

I am not support staff, just a user,
Hi harold

I should also have asked what is your base currency and can you define if any of these securities are quoted in another currency. If any are, are you setting up the security in that currency or in the base currency.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/489905602021-01-25T05:47:37Z2021-01-25T05:47:37ZDiscrepancy between Yahoo HD quotes and transactional quotes

Hi Derek, I misspoke: I did not download the quotes through Quote Downloader but imported the historical quotes from the Yahoo website through the import button in the security history window. So the discrepancy is not with the extension but between the Yahoo historical data and my bank statement. The import produced 77 errors that could account for the discrepancy. Strangely, the data from investing.com agree with the Yahoo data.

Would a stock split account for the discrepancy? I have searched and did not find any reports of a split. I can only guess that both sites use the same data source that is corrupted. The base currency is CAD and all KL prices are correct except for some time in 2011 when I bought it.
My setup: Windows 10 latest preview 021.1(3034) and build of Quote Loader 3027. I have uploaded 2 screenshots to show the details. Thanks!

haroldtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/489905602021-01-25T09:20:24Z2021-01-25T09:20:24ZDiscrepancy between Yahoo HD quotes and transactional quotes

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Harold

Looking at KL on Yahoo the available website historical data does not appear to go back to 2011, it currently starts a 1st December 2016.
So, if you were at the time obtaining prices via Yahoo I don’t think there is a way to checked from the site what Yahoo would have provided. It’s sounds like you still have the CSV file you obtained from Yahoo back in 2011. If you look at it in a spread sheet it may provide some clues to why you get 77 errors when you import it into Moneydance using the KL Security history window import.
I did look at another web site Market Watch https://www.marketwatch.com/investing/stock/kl/download-data?startD...
And that had a price of $6.09, for the 23rd August 2011, don’t know if that helps.
Also, there was at least one stock split 12/06/2016 100:211 STOCK SPLIT shown on that site, there may be others, you would need so look at the price tables to see.
Anyway, set up Quote Loader for KL and the up to date price it is returning seems correct see screen shot.

Hope this helps

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/489905602021-01-26T15:36:58Z2021-01-26T15:36:58ZDiscrepancy between Yahoo HD quotes and transactional quotes

Hi Derek, the historical quotes for KL from the Yahoo site go back to 1996. I have attched screenshots from that site and investing.com. My bank quotes agree with my Quicken quotes which differ from Yahoo and investing.com data is different again but closer to Yahoo than mine. I am just trying to assess which data source is reliable for historical quotes imports.

haroldtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/489905602021-01-26T17:22:49Z2021-01-26T17:22:49ZDiscrepancy between Yahoo HD quotes and transactional quotes

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi harold

The Yahoo site you are using must be different to the one Quote Loader uses https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/KL/history?p=KL

This Yahoo page show a default of about 1 year of historical data. On the wed page you can adjust a calendar to get back to December 2016. Quote Loader can only pick up one year.

Regarding which data is accurate back in 2011 I have no idea.

Did you look at the Market Watch web page link I posted and examining the splits it identifies for example the one in 23rd August 2011

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/489905602021-01-26T18:32:52Z2021-01-26T18:32:52ZDiscrepancy between Yahoo HD quotes and transactional quotes

I see, you have referred to KL at the NYSE I am using the TSE which labels it KL.To. So the Canadian quotes go back much farther. The Marketwatch quotes in USD are again very different from the others. I could not find any stock splits of KL.To could you link your source? Thanks

haroldtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/489905602021-01-26T20:16:39Z2021-01-26T20:16:39ZDiscrepancy between Yahoo HD quotes and transactional quotes

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Harold

Sorry you are correct I posted the wrong link to the Yahoo web site page, it was for USD, not CAD this is the page Quote Loader uses for CAD

https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/KL.TO/history?period1=1313798400&am...

and you can set the calendar to go back to 2011.
However not sure it helps as the values are not the same as the ones you posted, see screen shot.

The link to web site Market Watch

https://www.marketwatch.com/investing/stock/kl/download-data?startD...

is as I posted before and that had a price of $6.09, for the 23rd August 2011, don’t know if that helps.

Also note the STOCK SPLITS, see screen shot.

Hope this helps

derekkent23
