Then you have an accurate accounting of all the transactions in and out of whatever is not in Moneydance. If it was ever necessary, those transactions could be matched to the transactions recorded elsewhere.

nospamtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/491440572021-05-27T23:04:00Z2021-05-27T23:04:00Z"Ghost" transactions created in investment account when funds come from an account not in Moneydance

I'm a fellow user

Moneydance follow account rules, this mean that fund cannot just appear or disappear. So funds coming to or going from an account in Moneydance must appear in an another account or category in Moneydance.

You see this in normal expenses in Moneydance when you associate them with a category. You can also create categories for fund coming to and from Moneydance from something outside of Moneydance.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/491440572021-05-28T02:28:22Z2021-05-28T02:29:28Z"Ghost" transactions created in investment account when funds come from an account not in Moneydance

All this is fine and makes sense, except for the fact that I never had this problem until 2 months or so ago. I really don't care if the "bank" in the investment account has bogus amounts in it as long as the number of shares and price are correct. I've been doing this for ages and only recently did it put a transaction into once of my normal checking accounts. That's where it becomes a problem.

wa1ouitag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/491440572021-05-28T05:38:38Z2021-05-28T05:38:38Z"Ghost" transactions created in investment account when funds come from an account not in Moneydance

A buy type of transaction in an Investment account has only a small number of possibilities that I can think of.

If it is a "Buy" it will draw money from that account (if in credit) or place it in debt if there are no funds in the account.

If it is a BuyXfr it will draw the Moneydance from another account or category.

They are the only two things Moneydance knows how to do, which is does depends on the transaction that is downloaded.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/491440572021-05-28T09:15:00Z2021-05-28T09:15:00Z"Ghost" transactions created in investment account when funds come from an account not in Moneydance

These come in as direct download "Buy" transactions and do keep decreasing the cash balance of the investment account. I'll report back in several weeks after the next transaction.

wa1oui
