Entering security transactions in Investment Accounts

I have a number of securities in several investment accounts. My question is about entering in the name of the security in the Security Field of the register. When I click on that field a menu opens up with all the names of the securities that I have set up in that account. As I begin to type the name of the security, the program reduces the list to only those securities where the name contains the characters that I have typed. If I hit enter during this process, the name of the first security in the list is entered and the highlighted field moves to the next section. This feature is great as it allows me to select and enter a security with only a couple of keystrokes.

For 95% of my securities this works just as I have described but for a couple of them, the program doesn't select the security I want even though it is the only one left in the menu list. The security selected is the first one alphabetically that is set up for the account. For example, I want to enter a transaction for a security named PARKLAND IND. I type PAR in the securities field and the menu list now only shows PARKLAND IND so I hit enter and the program moves to the next field. But PARKLAND isn't the stock that is chosen in the security field for the transaction, ALGONQUIN is. ALGONQUIN is the first stock in an alphabetical list of the securities I have set up to use in the investment account. To get the program to select PARKLAND I have to click on it from the menu list. This happens with a couple of different securities regardless of which account I am in.

I would appreciate any suggestions to work around this.

    Hi cdninwv,

    Try this...

Instead of using ENTER, try using TAB when the desired security is highlighted.
