I have a brokerage account with a large number of securities. I know the manual way (create each security and then assign security to account) plus setting up a "beginning balance" but seems a bit labor-intensive.

Is there a way that I could take a CSV files of the name of the security, and ticker to at least add the securities to reduce the keying effort? Would the brokerage statement of transactions set up the balance once security is assigned to the account with a csv or does it need to be a qif?
Thanks

I do not know of any utility that could do this with a CSV file. CSV files have pretty limited usage when it comes to Investment accounts, understandable given the structure. I think it would have to be QIF.
