    I'm a fellow user.

Moneydance follows accounting principles, and as such it is fairly transaction centric, hence you need to create transactions that set up your holdings.

I would suggest you start by looking at the investment section of the Knowledge Base:

    https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/investment-accounts

And in this instance specifically at:

    https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/investment-accounts/create-an-investment-account
    https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/investment-accounts/adding-securities
    https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/investment-accounts/entering-holdings

For updating prices you have a number of options, including various options for manually entering prices as well as automatic downloads, the following article gives a starting point for these:

    https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/investment-accounts/security-prices

For other options there is a security price entry extension which is good if you need to manually enter prices regularly and for a more capable automatic download option the Quote Loader extension.

    Hi Simon

Just to add on obtaining Security prices try the extension Quote Loader under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSION

For information on the features of this extension and how to use see post 200 at
    https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/investments/4914-the...

Download the PDF’s attached to post 200 and have a read.

To get an overview take a look at the YouTube videos by using the links on page 1 and 2 of the PDF.

Let us know how you get on or if you need help just post.

    Hope this helps.
