Hi!
4 out of 5 of my investment accounts show incorrect totals on my Summary page.

How can I get them to show the correct totals?

Thanks for any help,

I haven't used any qif files in these accounts. The totals that are on the summary page are just incorrect! When I open the account file the correct totals are on them, but the summary page just seems to make up it's own totals.

Do you have future dated txns in your investment accounts?

Can you confirm that your tools/securities Current Price matches the latest dated history price and that both are recent and correct?

In file / preferences what setting do you have for ‘side bar setting’?

On the summary screen. Next to ‘investment accounts’ slightly right. Click the up/down arrow and what setting is set there?

Hi Stuart Beesley. Thanks for getting back to me.

    To answer your questions:

No, I don't have any future dated transactions in my investment accounts
and _no transactions are open_. My sidebar setting is set for current
balance, which is not what is showing.

Just as an example: for one of my accounts the balance is about $55,000
and the sidebar shows about $35,000.
Another account is off about $25,000, etc, etc. One even shows a $0.00
balance - which is also incorrect!

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    And this question I asked:

Can you confirm that your tools/securities Current Price matches the latest dated history price and that both are recent and correct?

    Hi again Stuart -

I don't understand what the Current Price would have anything to do with
my totals being incorrect since I'm not holding any securities. I have
no open orders. I just have incorrect balances listed in the _*sidebar*_
for _all of my investment accounts._ If I open the accounts the balances
are correct! - The _*sidebar*_ is not!

So, it's nothing urgent. I just find it annoying!

Ah ok. You said Investment accounts. I’m assuming therefore you mean savings accounts - e.g. cash in a bank perhaps earning interest etc?

And is everything in base currency?

What happens if you create a dummy account with a dummy txn. Are the totals for that still wrong? If so, can u post screen shot of that?

Do any of your accounts show correctly? Ie normal bank accounts?

    Hi Again -

All of my accounts show correctly in the sidebar _*except*_ for my four
investment accounts. None of the investment accounts show the correct
total of the account *_in the sidebar_*. The total in the sidebar is not
the total that shows when I click open the account.

    Hi

In Moneydance speak Investment Accounts consist of money invested in Shares, Funds etc, hence Stuart’s question for each security is the Current Price and the last dated price under TOOLS – SECURITIES the same.
It sounds like in Moneydance terms your accounts are not Investment Accounts but are Bank type accounts were the financial institution pay interest.
    Hence the confusion.

Can you confirm the type you account you are having problems with?

Without screenshots or some further info, very difficult to diagnose.

Please confirm these are set up in MD as ‘bank’ or ‘savings’ accounts?

At the bottom right of one of the ‘bad’ accounts there is a balance number underlined. If you click it, it will pop up different values. Do any of these match the sidebar balance?

    Hi -

    Thanks for the response.

What I don't understand is that I'm not holding *any* securities, etc,
at this time. I have no open orders in any of the investment accounts,
so why isn't the amount in the sidebar the same amount balance that's in
the actual account? (Or accounts, since none of them have open orders
and all of them have a different actual balance than the balance that
    shows in the sidebar!)

So I think you are saying you are using Investment accounts in MD? Yes? (But with no securities)? Yes?

So how did you add the cash to these accounts? What txn type?

What exactly does the Portfolio screen say by type of value?

Does the side bar balance match any of these numbers?

Yes, I am using investment accounts in MD. I buy & sell, short & cover
trades every day. I am not holding any securities at this time. I
transfer money from my banks to open the accounts.

This is giving me a massive headache! The totals in the actual accounts
are accurate. Only the sidebar is all screwed up.  I'll live with it.

    Bye.

    Hi Derek -

My regular bank accounts, etc. are fine. I'm only having problems with
all 4 of my investment accounts. _None_ of them are showing a correct
balance _in the sidebar_. I am not currently holding any securities. In
the actual accounts the balances are correct. It's only the
sidebar/summary page that's incorrect. I have no idea where the sidebar
numbers came from. They're not even close to the actual numbers in the
    accounts.

So it's not a big deal. It's just annoying because it throws off the
total balance of all my accounts.

    Hi JA H

In the screen shot the Portfolio View of an Investment Account is shown that has a cash balance but no security holdings.
Is this how the Portfolio View of one of your Investment Accounts looks. Portfolio Value 0.00 but with a Cash Balance equal to the Total but with a different value for the account in the Side Bar, as you can see in the screen shot these vales are the same at 500.00
Can you provide a screen shot of one of your Portfolio views?

As Derek said, ScreenShots would be useful. Without further data/information from you, very hard to diagnose. One thought popped into my mind....

Perhaps some of your old txns are not correctly linked, and this is causing a discrepancy between the screens.

You really need to be on the latest MD 2021.2 PREVIEW to follow these next steps....
    https://infinitekind.com/preview

Also, install the latest version of Toolbox extension (1041) using Manage Extensions...
    Then run Menu/Extensions/Toolbox

    Options>Advanced Mode
    Do a backup

    Now try each of these:

    Currency / Security Tools Menu>
    - FIX: Detect & fix Investment Security records not properly linked to Security Master

    Transaction Tools Menu>
    - FIX: Non-Hierarchical Security Account Txns

If there is no issue it will tell you. If there is, it will also tell you and offer a fix.

    Two followup thoughts:

1/ The latest Toolbox is now signed and integrated into Manage Extensions (as of today), so you can use that one (version 1041).

2/ You could also try the extract_data extension. Select option StockGlance2020. Select view on screen. See if these balances match anything you see in MD..?
