Can you add new "SecType" definitions?

   Thank you, but it was not “Subtype” but “Type” that I wanted to be able to
   be able to add more choice to. Referred to as “SecType” in MoneyDance
   Investment Reports.

   My reason is to enable easier analysis or breakdown of different types of
   investment and categories.

   At present Investment Trusts, ETF’s, Funds, etc. all seem to come together
   under the heading “Mutual”. They can then be further subdivided through
   “Subtype” or in Investment Reports “SecSubType”

   What I would like to be able to do is have the choice of Investment Trust,
   Exchange Traded Fund, Fund, etc. added to “Type” alongside Stock, CD
   (whatever that is), Mutual, etc.

   Then I could put investment categories into “Subtype” such as those used by
   Morningstar, FT, or even my own invention. This would help for Portfolio
   diversification into sectors or categories which is not so easily done if
   your portfolio is spread through different brokers or accounts.

   Ideally I would have a third subdivision but that might be asking too much.
   Since two are already provided all that is needed is to be able to add user
   input to both of them.

   However, it may be that there is a good reason why one cannot change “Type”
   (“SecType”) that I have not picked up on.

   So would I be right in thinking that one cannot add new definitions to
   Security "Type" beyond the 6 in the drop down?

   That's correct, you cant add any new Security Types only Sub-Types to a Security Type.
