Using MD to track investments without entering the entire history
I have used Quicken for years. Now I want to switch over to MD. Since I have years of investment history, I do not want to transfer all of that. Instead I want to start from 1/1/2016 using initial balance method. I entered my securities and its balance as suggested in the manual. I don't care about MD calculating accurate capital gains. Going forward I want to use online download from the institution. My institution keeps about 3 years of transaction history. So whenever I try to download, it downloads three years of history. That of course messes up my share count. So I deleted manually all the transactions prior to 1/1/2016. However, every time I download from institution, it downloads last three years of transactions again. I just want to get transactions from 1/1/2016. How do I do this the right way?

I guess there is no suggested solution. With 40 such investment accounts that I maintain, I may have to stay with Quicken and ask for MD refund.
