Company Rename
Hopefully a simple question. How does one record a simple security rename in the register? No new issuance of stock or exchange of shares.
I understand the obvious of simply renaming the security in the security detail, but I'd like to keep the record of when Company A became Cool Company and the fact it used to be called Company A.
Quicken used to have a reminder transaction that did nothing other that record the name. couldn't enter money or shares. Any equivalent or should I just put a comment in the first transaction after the rename?

I have suggested that Moneydance could have a action that just allows you to enter a note i.e. data only in the date, description and memo fields.
You could do as you suggest or just enter a transaction like MiscInc or MiscExp with a 0 value and a category of say "Notes".

Wound up doing it this way:
Date:
Action: Xfr
Description: Old Stock Name
Category: Misc:Account Adjustment
Amount: 0
Check#: Reminder
Memo: New Stock Name
Seems to get the job done, and description and memo were already populated from the import so it was easier than trying to change it to a MiscExp and having to pick a security and a category :D
