Sorry, I missed your attached file, so let’s see Mikes comments.
But I don’t see anything in your attached file that suggest that Quote Loader saved anything to the Moneydance ticker 9999227 Currency/Security History window.

Looking at the provided error log there are 2 things. First remove
ReportWriter, you have an old version which will not run on the latest
version of MD. If you use it please download the latest version from
https://github.com/mrbray99/moneydanceproduction/tree/main/downloads.
The second thing is that QuoteLoader did not run in this log, it does
its setup and the says 'Nothing to Run'. You, however, has some syncing
going on. Is the false price coming from your sync file?

Thanks for the info. Looking at the various logs QL seems to be behaving
correctly. When 9999227 is set to 'Do not load' and an 'autorun' is run,
no quote is generated for 99999227. When 9999227 is changed to a source
of Yahoo it tries to do a quote but rightly gets a 'Not Found' from
yahoo and adds the quote to the failed count. It is not updating the
price of 9999227.
There is no evidence that Quote Loader is setting the price of 9999227.
If you can send me an error log of when the price is created I will have
another look.

Try disabling QL Autorun and waiting for the price to change. If it doesn't try a few manual runs of QL to see if that does it.

As Yahoo does not provide cryptocurrencies exchange rates related to ZAR the following is the only workaround I can think of.
You need to set up the Cryptocurrencies as an Investment. See my PDF Quote Loader Version 2 Extension, Moneydance 2022-2024 Handling Cryptocurrencies and Market Indices & Futures page 4 at

See screen shots for the example for Bitcoins and Ethereum.
In the example I have set up two securities Bitcoins and Ethereum with currency setting South African Rand. Screen shot example Bitcoin.
Create an Investment account Cryptocurrency Exchange Rates.
Add the securities, 1 share each at current crypto exchange rate.
As the values returned by Quote Loader are in USD you also need to ensure the are retrieving the exchange rate for USD. See screen shot.
Process Click GET EXCHANGE RATE, select that line and SAVE SELECTED LINES and then GET PRICES and select and SAVE SELECTED LINES. You need to save the current USD exchange rate before you get and save the Crypto currency rate so the rate are converted from USD to ZAR using the up to date rate.
As this is a twostep process, getting crypto exchange rates in USD then converting them results to ZAR other sources at any given time may give a slightly different results.
Hope this makes sense.

I followed this and the instructions in the pdf, I didn't read through it all so I didn't see the section that details using crypto with a unsupported ticker symbol.

I have quote loader running fine and have manually imported all my trades. Is there now a way for those new quotes and balances to make its way into the register sidebar and have those total match up? TIA

Once you have Quote Loader set up and working correctly it adds the downloaded prices to the security history and it sets the latest price to be the current price.
Moneydance will then use this to work out and display the current value of the investment on the summary page and in the side bar.

Download the PDF’s attached to post 112 and have a read.
To get an overview take a look at the YouTube videos by using the links on page 1 and 2 of the PDF.
The Quick Start Video is intended to give a quick overview so the user can see if Quite loader looks like it could work for them. The Short Video expands the user’s knowledge giving more detail. The Full Video goes even further but may be too wordy for some.
The PDF reinforces what’s leaned in the videos, provides step by step instructions, a must read and provide answers on how to handle less obvious issues some users may come across.
Let us know how you get on or if you need help just post. If any securities return an error then post your base currency, the Ticker, full Security Name and last price you have and its traded currency or just post a screen shot of the Quote Loader windows after you click GET PRICES.

I think I figured it out. I needed to select all lines, save all lines. Seemed to have worked.
Still playing with it.

Yes, a detailed in the PDF and demonstrated in the videos after you GET PRICES you need to SELECT ALL LINES or if you only want some lines, select them individually, then click SAVE SELECTED LINES.

Thanks everyone!! More playing and I am 100% and my file looks amazing and matches what I had with the "other" software. Money dance is great! and this support is amazing. I am so happy I severed the 30 plus year relationship I had with stupid Quicken.

One thing to be mindful of, depending on your brokerage and security, some prices may never precisely agree. I have a handful of ETFs through Charles Schwab that never line up with the closing prices QL downloads. Always off by a few pennies in either direction. I've gotten in the habit of comparing the number of shares when I need to reconcile that account.
Conversely, my 401(k) and IRA accounts, the securities in those agree with QL to the penny, so I can reconcile at a glance with the total value shown in MD and on statements/webpage from those brokerages.

Thanks for the heads up, but Im ok with not an exact match as I have my brokerage account to fall back in when I need it for trades and such. I just love that moneydance is tracking everything financial in one place just like I used to do with quicken. quicken was just one big bloated mess.

Quote Loader is a third-party extension that has been reviewed and signed by Infinite Kind (Moneydance).
For Moneydance 2022 to 2024 only, latest Quote Loader Version 2 build is 321605
**UPDATE**
• Add source Alpha Vantage. Require free key allowing 25 price retrievals per day.
To retrieve more than 25 prices requires a paid for license from Alpha Vantage.
• Under the bonnet changes related to improving integration with Moneydance.
• Update PDF Quote Loader V2 Extension Moneydance 2022 to 2024 to V12.1
As a signed extension Quote Loader can be found under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS.
Simply click EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS – AVAILABLE tab, find Quote Loader and click install or update.
Once installed re-start Moneydance - installation complete.
Mike has created a build of Quote Loader that should work with older versions of Moneydance 2020 and 2021. If you are running these versions of Moneydance a signed by Infinite Kind (Moneydance) build of Quote Loader should appear under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS.
However this Quote Loader build is 320821 and Mike cannot guarantee that changes to Quote Loader beyond that build will be retrofitted. For the latest build of Quote Loader you need to upgrade Moneydance.

I'm trying to add bitcoin and etherium to my securities but when I do I don't see them on quote loader, followed the instructions on the pdf, is there anything I'm missing?
My base currency is South African Rands.
I changed the currency for Bitcoin to USD

I assume you are trying to invest in Bitcoin and Ethereum rather than looking for their exchange rates?
Assuming this is the case if you have not yet made a buy in an Investment account try ticking the box INCLUDE SECURITIES WITH NO HOLDING under the Parameter tab. If you have made a buy in an investment account let me know and we can look deeper. The screenshot shows the result of setting up Bitcoin as your screenshot suggest you have with the above box ticked and as you can see Bitcoin is listed.

Thanks for the answer, this worked but I think my issue is a bit more complex, I was trying to buy shares of the COINDESK LARGE CAP SELECT INDEX (^CDIDLCS) but it seems like I should be treating this like a currency instead of a stock/etf ?

Yes that's it, but I can't buy shares of it like a traditional ETF.
I'm investing in this index through a wrapper, the LUNO LARGE CAP
It invests in various coins simultaniously through one bundle purchase.
There's no share certificate issued after purchase.
I think the only option is to create individual coins and capture them manually.
