Thanks to Mike Bray for this new release!

Just some comments for those wondering about this large upgrade.
Your parameters are not lost, just you may see them in different places. There will also be a few new parameters, if you don't like the default, just change them.

And a question from myself - I must have missed it when testing it.
Where is the option to hide "Do Not Load" items? [I do not see an Exclude Do Not Load when I click the select source choices]

I see "Do Not Load" at the top of the source elections.

Exactly. But I don't see "EXCLUDE Do Not Load" - based on this (and I do see it mentioned in Derek's PDF, but I don't see what is shown in the documentation)

Option to hide “Do Not Load” source selection lines.

I see what you mean in the PDF but I have not seen any reference to this anywhere else or recall any discussions about it. I'm not sure what the point would be,

    Hi dtd,

QL 3200.19 Right-click on the 'Source' header > Exclude 'do not load'.

Selecting it removes those securities marked 'do not load' from the list of securities in QL.
Once removed 'Exclude' changes to 'Include' so as to restore them.

In that case I expected it was omitted in the final build.

    Hi des,

I'm seeing it in 3200.20 as well. It's also documented in Mike's Wiki.

@Kevin - got it. Source HEADING, not right clicking on the item itself.

@Derek does say that in the documentation, but I guess I didn't find it very intuitive, or realize it was a "heading only" option.

@dwg - I think Stuart requested it, but I was not aware it had been done, the premise is just to leave all the "Do Not Loads" out of the table.

Whenever I heard about it, I thought it would be a line by line choice, not global (i.e. you might want to leave some do not loads (like active items you still want visibility to - like I have a couple bonds I update occasionally by hand) and remove others not as active (money market funds)... at least that's what I wrongly thought.

Guy’s, see page 6 of the main PDF section INITIAL SET UP …… Step 1 ….. You can also hide “Do not Load” lines. Also includes a screen shot.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks to Mike Bray, and for Derek's assistance! I love this extension, it has finally made MD useful for me tracking various investments.

It all works great, apart from one thing. (This also affected QL1, it is not new for me i QL2).

The British Pound/GBP currency gets "future values" entered in the Currency history. It's 13/03/2023 today but I just got a 15/03/2023. Earlier today there were a few other future ones which I deleted (e.g. 31/03/2023, 16/03/2023).

This would be great for some trading if real :). A bunch of funds, plus other currencies all update fine ... with correct dates.

Base Currency of my MD used to be British Pounds, but is now something else.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi Mike

On the Quote Loader Parameter tab set Console Message to Detailed. Close and reopen Moneydance, run Quote Loader and clicked Get Prices. Post a screen shot of the Quite Loader window showing these future dated quotes so we can see the securities affected and the source used. Then go to Moneydance HELP – CONSOLE WINDOW and click save to save a text file to post. If it not repeatable list the securities full name and ticker symbol and source. We will take a look.

    Hi Mike

On reading your post again you state

    Can you explain.
What’s your computer operating system. Moneydance version and build e.g. 2022.6(4097).

    Hi Derek
Thanks! Logs and screenshots attached. Seems easily repeatable. Years ago when I first started using MD, my base currency was GBP. I changed this a year or so ago to CHF. OS=macOS 13.2.1 (Ventura, latest). MD version 2022.6(4097), latest. Computer date/time is set automatically (time.apple.com); and current values are correct.
I do see "2023-03-14" in the logs, but not the erroneous date seen in the screenshot ("2023-03-15").
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Mike

All the Trade Dates in your screen shot are correct at 14/03/2023. The incorrect date is a Price Date Quote Loader retrieves from Moneydance’s Currency/Security History window for British Pound.

We need a log showing a Trade Date being retrieved incorrectly when you click Get Prices. Can you try again.

Also can you post a screen shot of the Parameters tab.

The Moneydance’s Currency/Security History window for British Pound looks strange in that the Current rate is the rate for the 14/03/2023, but as you say there is a Dated Rate for the 15/03/2023.

On the Parameter tab was the Update Moneydance Current Price box ticked?

Normally the Current and Last Dated rate are the same. Its as if the last Dated Rate (15/03/2023) had been added using another method. A manual edit at some point?

Did after taking the Quote Loader screen shot and saving the log did you go on to save and then take a screen shot of the Moneydance’s Currency/Security History window for British Pound?

I will take a look at the log to see if is shows anything strange and also ask Mike Bray to take a look.

Hi Mike, the log.txt you provided has a couple of interesting things in it. First the request to get the quote for CHF GBP has a last date of 20230315 so it is starting with the date already set to 15/3/23. Secondly the reply back from ft.com has a date of 20230314 which is correct. QL will not override this as the trade date is less than the latest date.

It looks like you have somehow entered a date for rate of 3/15/23. Don't know how. Please try deleting the entry in the rate history for 15/3/2023 (just click on it and click on remove) and rerun. On the parameters tab please make sure you have 'Update Moneydance Current Price' selected.

There is a possibility that the date retrieval for ft.com has a bug. If it reoccurs please can you post the log before closing MD down.

The parsing of the trade date is open to error. It relies on the text 'as of ' in the date and the date having the disclaimer about being 15 minutes late. I have not run this when the markets are closed so there is a chance that the text changes depending on what time of day it is run. Do you run this in the evenings or early before the market opens?

    Hi Derek & Mike

I found two more future dated values in GBP, see screenshot mdcurr1.png. I REMOVED these three (where they appeared from ???), switched on detailed logging, switched on "Update Moneydance Current Price" (it was unchecked) and then restarted MD.

No manual edits in currency. Up until I started using QL 4-5 months back, I was using another ext to update currencies. But that was removed then ... I have only Extra Investment Reports, Extract Data, QL, Security Price Entry (never used this), Toolbox.

I can't reproduce it AND find the incorrect date in the logs. So far repeated "Get Exchange Rates" in QL are done, but the currency is staying OK (no future dates).

See log3.txt & the log3-sc.png. Something doesn't look 100% there but it may be OK. There are a few instances like that.

Re order of screenshot question, can't remember at this stage ... have been doing so many tests...

Usually when I open MD, I also remove any of the future dated currency values. I.e. each time I open MD. So when I exit MD each time, it should be only historical dates.

When I run QL? Sometimes evenings/weekends, sometimes during market open (as today's posts). So no pattern.

Just to highlight ... previously it was easy to reproduce and get a future date in GBP currency. Since switching on "Update Moneydance Current Price", it seems to be behaving ... it has not added a future date in 7 or 8 restarts/re-runs.

What’s your computer operating system. What version build of Moneydance e.g. 2022.6(4097).
Post a screen shot of what you see.

At the top of the Quote Loader screen do you see tabs, including a Parameter tab. If so post a screen shot.

    Hi Mike

If you get any further future dated Trade dates appearing in the Quote Loader then it would also be useful if you could Go to https://markets.ft.com/data/currencies/tearsheet/summary?s=CHFGBP and take screen shot as attached.

    Thanks

    Hi Rick

This may be a issue of Mac not playing well with Quote Loader.

I don’t have a Mac so cant explore the issue you see so will draw Mike Brays attention to your post. My testing was on Windows and Linux.

One member of the team testing has a Mac and he did have an issue resizing the Quote Loader window, so data appeared as well as headings not being visible. I included the following comments in the PDF on Mikes advise which it was reported fixed the issue.
Mac users should ensure in System Preferences/General Show Scroll Bars is set to 'Always'.

There should be a scroll bar on the left vertical edge of the window that allow you to bring data into view. You should also be able to resize the window using mouse grab on window edges so the data is permanently visible and is remembered the next time you open Quote Loader.

I cant see a scroll bar in your screen shot but that may be due to the dark theme,
Try changing the Theme to high contrast whilst setting up the window.

I can see the horizontal bar that divides the security and exchange rate sections which can be move up and down to respace the two sections.

Try the above whilst we wait for Mike Bray to comment.

That looks like it might be theme related.

I'd be inclined, as a test, to try a different theme and see if the behaviour is different. That may help to narrow the problem down.

Just made some pref changes as you suggested, both system- as MD-wide.
Slight improvement but not solved yet:
