Whilst playing today. From the horses mouth. I believe the only viable route here (with Yahoo) is for IK to set up some kind of paid subscription with a yahoo source for users that cannot use other free sources

Joe, I also track VTI and have it setup as follows in QL - Ticker: VTI:PCQ:USD through Source: FT HD
It's the only Vanguard ETF I have to setup like that, others are just the ticker (e.g. VEU).

Quote Loader is a third-party extension that has been reviewed and signed by Infinite Kind (Moneydance).
For Moneydance 2022 to 2024 only, latest Quote Loader Version 2 build is 321705
UPDATE NOTE: YAHOO IS STILL DOWN.
• Fix issue that can effect Quote Loader Automatic Run when Quote Loader is set to run on Moneydance opening. The fix includes adding a 20 second delay before Quote Loader runs.
• Update PDF Quote Loader V2 Extension Moneydance 2022 to 2024 to V12.2 Note: even though Yahoo is not working as a source its information has not yet been deleted.
• Update PDF’s Create On Demand and Scheduled Auto Run at defined time on Windows/Linux to V1.3. The updated Batch/Script file text in the PDF’s now includes information relating to the 20 second delay in Auto Run.
As a signed extension Quote Loader can be found under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS.
Simply click EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS – AVAILABLE tab, find Quote Loader and click install or update.
Once installed re-start Moneydance - installation complete.
Mike has created a build of Quote Loader that should work with older versions of Moneydance 2020 and 2021. If you are running these versions of Moneydance a signed by Infinite Kind (Moneydance) build of Quote Loader should appear under EXTENSIONS – MANAGE EXTENSIONS.
However this Quote Loader build is 320821 and Mike cannot guarantee that changes to Quote Loader beyond that build will be retrofitted. For the latest build of Quote Loader you need to upgrade Moneydance.

I tried the beta. It stopped loading after getting data for 177 securities out of 202. I've attached the console log.
Note: I get a similar result (quitting after 175 securities using AlphaVantage as the source (I have a one-month paid subscription there). I can load all securities using Q&ER with AlphaVantage as the source.

I am not a Mac user, so this may not be the correct term.
But during a Quote Loader run, which with the source Yahoo now takes longer due to throttling, is the Mac going into sleep mode at any point as suggested by the error.log. If so try changing the Mac setting.

The Mac is not going into sleep mode. Could that error message represent a timeout from the extension not communicating with the main Moneydance module for a long period of time? Before Mike introduced the Yahoo 'instant' process (when all values were returned in well under a minute), I saw the same issue. I believe that he then added code to prevent a timeout from happening when handling a large number of securities. I'll see if I can find the thread where I reported the problem and a fix was provided.

I believe that QL release 3047 introduced some code to enable working with a large number of securities. That code may have been rendered inactive when Mike changed his access method that provided an instant load.

@aforkosh - I'm sure the issue is that the new throttling is deliberately making the code take longer to sleep/execute and that is conflicting with QL's timeouts.
Can you change your QL debugging to DETAILED, restart MD and then run again... We would need the detailed log to see...

I tried QER the other day after not using it for a long time. First I'll say it ran through my short list of stocks quickly and successfully using Yahoo as the source. This is the first time it has worked for me in months, using any source.
It did however pull 14 digits of data, which far exceeds the majority of Max Decimal Places set for my securities. I don't recall QER functioning this way the last time I was able to use it successfully.
Is this the expected behavior now?

By the way, to honor not stressing the system, I try to limit my runs to once a day after the USA markets close. FWIW, I'm in the Pacific Time Zone (GMT-8 standard, GMT-7 Daylight).
I'll switch on detailed logging for runs starting Tuesday.

I updated quote loader to build 321706, thank you Stuart, and I am back in business using Yahoo as a source. I retrieve quotes for 110 securities every day, only once or twice. We'll see how long this lasts. I was running FT for a week or so, having to tweak the exchange for about 10 securities (as recommended by someone on this discussion I believe). For example I had to enter BTI:NYQ for BTI. Will return to that source/method if needed. This forum has helped me fix at least 3 or 4 issues (and/or user error) over the last few years. Thank you all.

I'm experiencing the same thing. I thought it had been fixed with the recent build as it had worked for a couple of days. Didn't work again today. 321706 on Mac.

On the surface of it, if QL only updates on Moneydance startup it suggests the scheduling is not set up correctly. Updates on startup is one of the options.

What I am experiencing (and I generally keep MD open all the time) is that once a day I click Get Prices and lately, that stops working until I restart MD. Clicking Get Prices turns all the New Price column yellow, as normal, but doesn't bring in new quotes. The Get Prices button itself stays in a highlighted state as if it's waiting.
Edit: I will work on looking at the console logs for clues

I suspect there is a failure in the Get Prices that prevents QL from
finishing. Have a look in the console log for a Java exception.

I have exactly the same issue, and it started recently, I leave MD running, and after some time quote loader stops working. The New Price is yellow, no errors, nothing happens.
The console just has this:

Actually there is obviously an error(s) - all the yellow prices are zero.

I was helping by giving a better description of what you (and others) (and I) are experiencing. Knowing the "price is yellow, no errors", does not show that QL is no longer actually "getting prices" at that point, as the "all zero" values do indicate.
It also seems to occur after MD has been up some time, and has had at least one successful run. If I am incorrect for anyone, I was hoping for more feedback versus your response.
Since Mike Bray is no longer supporting QL, it falls to others (including me) to try to figure out the scope and details of the issue.

QL 322004 is now available. Whilst the extensions menu says it’s an older version, just uninstall and reinstall and it will pick up 322004.
