The Register view only allows Xfr as an Action. I wish to use a Buy option.

In the Register view I am attempting to enter a Buy of stock shares. I have a balance in my account with which to make the purchase. When I attempt to enter the Buy option in the Action column it changes back to the Xfr option upon exiting the field. Why won't it remain as a Buy option? I cannot select any option except Xfr.

   You first need to add securities to the investment account before you can use them in transactions. If there are no securities in the investment account then Xfr is the only option.

   To add a security to the investment account go into the investment account and click on the "securities detail" tab. There click the "Add Security" button.

   Thanks, I was afraid that entering in the ADD Securities option would add the shares when in fact all it does is add the definition of the shares. Thanks for your prompt response.
