Quote Loader and Yahoo
The new build of Quote Loader (3209) fixes the problem with the changes to the Yahoo web pages. In addition to changing the web pages Yahoo has also introduced a throttling mechanism. If you have too many securities Yahoo will stop responding. You will see some securities failing (red background). Investigation by some users seem to indicate that this throttling starts when you have more than 60 securities. The figures seem to be no more than 60 web page calls in a minute, no more than 360 in an hour, no more than 8000 in a day.
I will have a look at putting a throttling mechanism into QL. When this is in operation users with more than 60 securities will see a slow down in response, however, it should complete.
MONEYDANCE AND QUOTE LOADER ARE DESIGNED TO SUPPORT USERS WITH THEIR INVESTMENTS. THEY ARE NOT DESIGNED TO ACT AS A PRICE TICKER. IF YOU ABUSE IT THEN IT IS LIKELY THAT DATA SUPPLIERS WILL PUT IN PLACE MECHANISMS TO STOP US USING THEIR SITES. PLEASE USE WISELY.

As one of the folks who noticed the problem, I am happy with a slower response as long as it is completed in a reasonable amount of time. By the way, I saw the issue only occurred when using Yahoo HD as the source. Getting only daily quotes via non-HD Yahoo worked fine and was very quick.

Having just updated Quote Loader to 3209, I can confirm that it now works perfectly.
Previously, cash securities (i.e. cash in securities with ticker symbols) were not downloading at all, showing up as an error from FT. Not a big deal as these values are always $1/share.
With 3209, I changed back to Yahoo for the cash securities while leaving the rest as FT. Worked flawlessly. Thank you for the quick response and fix.

Hi Mike,
I I'm trying Quote Loader (3209), however couldn't able to fetch the prices from Yahoo for my securities in Pakistan stock exchange. For example EFERT.KA "https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/EFERT.KA/history"(screen shot attached). Both Quote loader and Q& ER were working fine couple of week before (when yahoo change their web pages). I would appreciate if you can suggest what I am missing. Unfortunately, my securities are also not covered via FT.

How do you get 3209? When I look at manage extensions, I do not see any updates and the only option I have is to remove the current version of 3204.
Do I have to remove the 3204 version and re-install 3209? Or does 3209 not work with my version of MoneyDance 2021.1 (3069).

Quote Loader 3209 requires Moneydance 2022 as a minimum.
There are some changes in the underlying Java versions in Moneydance with the result there are API changes in one of the components Quote Loader uses.

As dwg indicates, QL 3209 is only for MD 2022 or greater. Basically, Yahoo changed how one gets their quotes, necessitating a fairly big change to Quote Loader.
My own personal suggestion is upgrade to Moneydance 2024 by downloading it, and purchasing an upgrade license key.
