Finding the Account that has a particular security.
I have a love/hate relatinship with MD. 99% love, but there are some things that I just don't understand why they are so difficult.
I have a number of securities that say they can't be deleted because they have active transactions. I have about 15 investment accounts. These securities are nowhere to be found in the investment accounts.
Is there a way to see which accounts contain a security? I can't find a report or a process. Sure toolbox will tell me they cant be deleted because they have transactions, but why doesn't any functionality tell me where those transactions actually are?

And actually, let me clarify. Toolbox says it is in a particular account but when i go to that account it does not show that security.

Easy. Menu, tools / accounts. Scroll down to investment accounts. You will see the securities there as sub accounts.
I bet the security has the inactive flag set.

Stuart,
Thanks, as always!
Yes, that worked. The security was marked as inactive and had no transactions at all. Marking it active allowed me to delete it.
I tried every instance/menu choice/report dealing with securities but never once thought to look in the account section. We're talking 10 years of being frustrated by this!
I guess I should have asked for help before!
Thanks!
