Remove unneeded securities from Quote Loader?
I searched here and the Quote Loader github but didn't see it covered.
I have several old securities that appear in Quote Loader but cannot be downloaded. This means I need to manually select "Do Not Load" every time I update the list with new securities and then right click, set all to Yahoo. One example is my old Lockheed 401k that was not publicly tracked. The account is marked closed and has a zero balance with no securities. However, the security for the account (which I used to manually update) shows in Quote Loader even though the "Include Securities with no Holdings" button is unchecked. Do I need to manually delete this security so that it no longer shows up in the list?
Additionally, there's a difference between my master (desktop) and slave (laptop) accounts. The laptop shows only the one Lockheed security while the desktop shows several others I no longer own, including a few that are not on Yahoo and need to have Do Not Load selected.
This is mainly cosmetic, but I'd like to clean out these old securities if I can do so without deleting old data. What do I need to do?

Manually deleting the security would be disastrous, as it deletes some of your history.
As for master/slave relationships, push a new sync using toolbox to "refresh" the slaves.
You might also want to shrink your dataset with toolbox.
As for your old Lockheed security - I had the same issue and requested changes with the latest version of Quote Loader - update to it and see if it disappears. If not, we (or Derek) can discuss what you need to do (inactive/don't show on summary screen) etc. to see how you can accomplish this. [Version 321100, depending on what version of Moneydance you are using)

Thanks for the reminder...I needed to update Quote Loader, but that didn't remove the security. I'm having trouble remoting in to the master now but will check it when I get a chance.

There is an answer - but Derek/Mark will need to provide the details - all mine are now fine, but I don't pay detailed attention - it's about 0, inactive, and "in summary screen".

Hi Ted
The rules that determine if a Security is listed in Quote Loader by necessity are a little complex. Take a look at page 3 “Securities:” of the PDF Quote Loader V2 Extension Moneydance 2022 to 2024 V11.9 which can be downloaded from post 107 at https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/investments/7595-quo...
Reading your post I think the key is “If a Security is set to Inactive under TOOLS – ACCOUNTS in every account it appears in and not listed in the Stock Prices section on the Summary Page it will not be listed in Quote Loader.”
After reading page 3 and checking the true table page 20, if you still cant hide a Security post again.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for that. While it appeared the security was completely gone, apparently when I entered the SellXfr to roll it over, .0001 share was left in the account. I made a dummy transaction to sell that .0001 share, and that security is gone from Quote Loader. Bottom line: believe in Quote Loader! It knows your securities better than you!
Shout out to Stuart because I used Toolbox, which is also smarter than I am, to detect the rogue .0001 share.

Hi Ted
Glad you got it sorted.
And yes you are correct, Quote Loader and Toolbox are great extensions.
