MD changes fund prices
I am in the process of entering fund purchases using share total and fund prices. Lately, I've noticed that Moneydance changes the fund price after I enter the transaction. The total amount and share total remain correct -but the price has been changed - and is often given using 6 or 7 digits. Is there any way to stop this?
Thanks,
Vince

Which version of MD are you using? Help > About MD
Are you suing multiple currencies? Are you using the quote and exchange extension?
Can you send a screen shot of the register with one of these transaction highlighted.

Hi Tom
I am using MD version 2015.5 (1225) - single currency (US$) - entering values by hand.
I've attached a screen capture -
The bottom three entries are prime examples of the issue - but I think most of the prices on this screen have been changed from the entered amounts.
Emerging Mkts Govt Bond - entered as 75.53 - MD changed to 75.609756Dynamic Pharmaceuticals - entered as 60.03 - MD changed to 59.756098Emerging Mkts Govt Bond - entered as 76.53 - MD changed to 76.442308
There is rounding associated with the data entry - I enter share amounts out to 4 digits, share price and total transaction to 2 places. As soon as I hit enter, MD changes the price out to 6 digits.
Thanks,
Vince Hammond

Please update to the most recent version of MD 2015 (1358). This should clear up the issue. If not let us know.
You can download that here: http://infinitekind.com/download-moneydance-personal-finance-software

Hi Tom
Updated to current version. Edited transaction to correct price - upon entering transaction, same thing happened - price changed, extended to 6 digits.

Can you please send a screen shot of the investment register highlighting some of these transactions and a detail of what they should be.
Can you send me your errlog.txt file? If you're using Mac OS X, it should be located at one of these locations within your Home folder:
~/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt
or:
~/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt
If you have any trouble finding your Home Library folder, open Finder and select Go -> Go to Folder and and copy and paste in the following:
~/Library
This should pull up your local Library folder.
If you're using Windows, it should be located at:
C:\Users\(yourusername)\.moneydance\errlog.txt

Hi Tom
Here is info requested.
I"ve attached a screen grab in which the last three entries are noted below:
Emerging Mkts Govt Bond - entered as 75.53 - MD changed to 75.609756Dynamic Pharmaceuticals - entered as 60.03 - MD changed to 59.756098Emerging Mkts Govt Bond - entered as 76.53 - MD changed to 76.442308
However, if you look at any of the DivReinvest actions shown in the screen grab, you will see that all have share values out to 6 digits, which I don't imagine is possible as I've never seen them reported that far.
Also attached is the errlog file from the last usage.
Many thanks,
Vince Hammond

Its a rounding bug. What is happening is that .0082 x 60.03= .492246. MD is rounding to .49 then back rounding the share price. .49/.0082 = 59.756098.
I will put in a bug ticket for this.

Thanks Tom
I generally put in shares to 4 digits and the price to 2 digits - although I do have one account where they track share price to 4 digits
Thanks again,
Vince
