Howdy,

I'm happy there's a new Securities Details Report in MD 2024.3. It has a lot of long desired features. Yet a slight disagreement with the words of the blog/log post "all of the details you could ever want" I was wondering if anybody has found a way to show gains on individual tax lots using this report? It's a big improved feature but I'm still longing for this one piece of data that would seem to easy to present in this new report.

The new report is a snapshot of the security at a point in time. There cannot be gains as this is not a transaction/history report? Unless you mean unrealised gains (by lot)?

Does the capital gains report not show this for you?

Sorry, yes I was inartful in my words. I should have said "a way to show unrealized gains...." I'm looking for a way to see unrealized gains by tax lot.

    👍

Ok. Understood. Does the capital gains report not do this? (If you select show unrealised gains)?

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but when I select "unrealized gains" all the unrealized gains are consolidated together for me in the Cap Gains report.

Linking this issue in case any of the details are similar:

I will take a look at the CG issue.

FYI - I wrote the new Security Details Report and submitted it to IK for their consideration/inclusion. I could consider adding the info you are after… I’ll have to review. Can you advise: What fields and information would you want in extra detail on this report ?

Stuart, as you're extremely knowledgeable about all things MD, I have a question about security dividends.

Is there anywhere in MD that captures dividend amount per share? My objective is to see dividend history (per share) independent of shares owned. I'm not seeking the total amount which is calculated by multiplying dividend amount by shares held, I know that's already available. I'm seeking just the dividend amount per share, preferably over time. Is this possible?

You do not enter it at all, and I'm not aware of Moneydance calculating it.

Strictly speaking having an action type of Div does not necessarily mean it is a dividend. The action type just determined how a transaction is to be processed by Moneydance.

@dwg, you're right, a security's dividend amount is not calculated within MD. It's either entered manually as the total dividend amount or downloaded from the brokerage.

To me, the distributed dividend per share is valuable information. Can it not be calculated in a report based on the dividend amount and number of shares owned as of that date? Mathematically, it would be something like: Dividend share amount = Total dividend amount (downloaded or entered manually) / number of shares owned as of dividend date.

Can you raise a new support issue/thread, and I will post the answer... Let's not hijack others' posts... Thanks

    (I have the answer ready)

@Stuart - To your question about what else I'm looking for, it's only the option of tax lot breakouts for unrealized gains. I mean if I was greedy I would want an option for long-term and short-term unrealized gain column for each tax lot, too. But maybe that's too much work.
