Portfolio values not even close
I have never been able to trust connecting my investment accounts and have been puzzled by this for years. The problem is that after connecting and downloading, the numbers reported in MD are nowhere close to being accurate when compared to my investment portal. Even the holdings that are downloaded are not the same usually including holdings not listed in the investment portal. Most troubling is that the portfolio value is nowhere close to that reported on my portal.
What am I missing??

Hi,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.
In order to determine what might be causing the problem, could you provide the information below:
Which version and build of Moneydance are you using?
To check, open Moneydance and select Help --> About Moneydance
How do you download your transactions from the bank?
Do you use Direct Connect automatic downloads, Moneydance + or do you download files from the banks website?
If you download from the banks site, which file format do you use?
ie.:QIF, OFX or QFX file format
Which bank/s are you connecting with?
Did you set up your investment account/s as outlined in this section?
Which extension are you using to update your security prices?
Generally to update your stock price, you can use either the extension Quotes and Exchange Rate Updater or the Quote Loader.
Unfortunately, Yahoo introduced some restrictions that broke the Quote and Exchange Rate extension.
So, while the development team are working to fix the Quote and Exchange Rate extension, you could use the Quote Loader.
You can find more information about the Quote Loader extension on post 112 in this thread.
Thank you

MD Version: 2024.4 (5253)
Connection/download type: Moneydance+
Bank: Personal Capital Pershing Login
Investment account(s) created first then connected and matched via
Moneydance+
Most recently, I used "*Quotes and Exchange Rate Updater*". However, the
amounts are so far off regardless of the update method, I think I'm am
missing something fundamental. Quote Loader doesn't list anything
though I think I'm meeting all the criteria.
Thanks

Hi gpolk
If the Quote Loader window is not listing your securities you need to take a look at page 3 section Securities up to and including point 1, from PDF Quote Loader V2 Extension Moneydance 2022 to 2024 V11.10 attached to post 112 at https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/investments/7595-quo...
This will indicate the required criteria needed for a security to be displayed in Quote Loader.
If on the other hand securities are listed in Quote Loader but it does not retrieve any of your security prices then post a screenshot of the Quote Loader windows after you click GET PRICES.
I may be able to help.

Version: 2024.4
OS: Ubuntu 24.10
Connection: Moneydance +
Bank: Pershing
Notes:
The problem may be related to Pershing's format (see screen shot).
There is no ticker symbol that imports and the security ID looks wonky.

Hi gpolk
The security ID does not matter. The issue is no Ticker Symbol. Try entering the correct Ticker Symbol AGCO into the window in your Screenshot.
Hope this helps.

Entering the ticker symbol does allow the Quote Loader to see the
security and update it. I can't manually update all ticker symbols
though because it would take forever. That's why I'm wondering if
there's an issue with the data coming from Pershing via MD+

Ticker symbols are what are used for the retrieval and storage of stock quotes, they are guaranteed to be consistent,
The security names are quite arbitrary and many investment houses create their own version of the name.
