Problems with investments
Hi,
I am having problems with investment in my moneydance:
[1] My securities are showing a cost basis above the nominal value despite having no additional costs
[2] If I setup a transaction reminder to record interests, the recorded transaction will differ from the setup
[3] When entering a transaction, if I put a number in the 2nd line, the number in the first line will disappear
Please refer to the picture attached.
Thanks.
Best Regards,
Mark

can you send a screen shot of the securities detail window for one of securities affected and an explanation of what the cost basis should be.
Can you tell me what you are trying to do with the above transactions. It says you are trying to transfer a dividend. There would be no share count just a transaction amount. I think the issue with the reminder is that the transaction may not be set correctly.

Hi Tom,
Please find a screenshot of one of the securities detail. The cost basis should have been the current value.
The security is actually a bond that pays interest every month. I am trying to automate the interest payment every month. I copy how a dividend transfer transaction works for a stock.
Thanks,
Mark

Which version of MD are you running? Help > About MD
Can you run a cost basis report for the above and attach a screen shot. The cost basis should be original purchase.
I tried to replicate the above and discovered a bug in the reminders when attached to investment accounts that mirrored what you found. I am putting in a bug ticket.

Can I see the original purchase transaction from the investment register? Are you using multiple currencies?
Go to the investment transaction report, edit to subtotal by security. Send me a screen shot of the portion of transactions of this security please.

Hi Tom,
Herewith the investment transaction report.
I am using multiple currencies because I have accounts in other currencies. However, the security is accounted in my home currency (IDR).
Thanks,
Mark

This is another bug. Only dividend reinvest should affect cost basis. Until this is fixed you are going to have to record the dividend as its own transaction then do a xfer to the checking and a miscexp to the tax.
I have put in a bug ticket for this as well

Hi Tom,
Thanks.
If I don't fix the transactions, will it be fixed when I update?

You should fix the transactions.now. I am not sure when they fix the bug if the fix will retroactively redo the transactions.

Can't they make it retroactive?
In any case, separating the transaction into two transactions does not work. Please see picture attached.
Thanks,
Mark

The bug fix should be such that fee's on dividends do not affect cost basis, but I never want to assume.
The transaction to split would be the dividend transaction. The tax withhold should be its own miscexp transaction. I have attached a screen shot to illustrate.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for helping out. I think it is strange if the update would not retroactively fix entered transactions since the DivXfr and the 3 columns with which to entry data have been provided by Moneydance. It is an official feature and not a make-do thing.
I really hope the fix will be out soon and with retroactive correction.
Again, thank you for helping.

Hi Tom,
Has there been any update on the matter below? I have just recently did a replacement for two deposits. The nominals are round IDR 200m and IDR 300m but it seems that Moneydance took IDR 6 out of the value of one deposit and added it to another.
Attached is the image.
Thanks.
Mark

The bugs are still in the que and I have no time frame from the developers as to when they will have them fixed.
I am sorry for the inconvenience.
