Wrong currency used for HK$ securities

Hi to everyone,

I need your help concerning the way "quote loader" is dealing with HK$ translation into Euro.
I have securities on HKEX (in HK$) and they are translated into Euro in the Summary page with the Chinese "Yuan" Renminbi rate. This is inflating my portfolio by 10%ish (when converted into Euro).
I have no securities in CNY.
Is it a fix in quote loader necessary or somewhere else?
I would really appreciate any kind of support.
Have a good day
Pierre-Henri

    Hi Pierre-Henri

Can you confirm your base currency is Euro. When you set up the security what currency did you set. What source in Quote Loader are you using. What’s the ticker.
take a screenshot and post of the Quote Loader window after you click GET PRICE but before you save.

    Hi Stuart,

not sure how to do this, using toolbox or quote loader?
Here attached SS of quote loader showing the HKEX security and the currency associated to them.

    Hi Derek,

yes, base currency is Euro. I setup the HK$ as currency for the HKEX securities I am having. I use now FT as source (was the same with Yahoo). The currency table in quote loader doesn’t show HK$ as currency but Chinese Yuan.
    See screenshot.
    Thanks

    Sorry, I found it!

You can see that the conversion from HK$ to Euro is not using the right FX rate.

    Hi Pierre-Henri

Under TOOLS- CURRENCY select and double click on Hong Kong Dollar then EDIT. Ensure Show on summary page box is ticked.

Now in Quote Loader Exchange rates currency Ticker HKD should be listed.

Click Get Exchange Rate. Select all lines. Save Selected Lines.

Now click Get Prices and see what the New Prices are now.

    See Screenshots.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you so much.

I did all this and the HK is appearing and I cancel the CNY from the list but the HK$ FX is not the one I am getting from FT, (maybe due to closing of market and the currency does not get refreshed today?).

I still have the HK$ at 0,1189 /Euro where it should be at 0,1102.

I will check during the week whether the FX is getting right.

If you have any other idea.

I appreciate(d) very much your help.

    Have a nice evening

    Hi Pierre-Henri

Try changing the Exchange Rate source to Yahoo HD instead of FT. With FT you only get the latest exchange rate. With Yahoo HD you get history. Quote Loader attempts to use the Exchange Rate to match the Trade Date of the Security which may be a few days older.

In the attached screenshot the Last Update is given as on 13/06/2025. This is the date of the last retrieved price by Quote Loader. However the Euro value is based on the latest exchange rate which is dated the 15/06/2025.

    Hope this helps.

Exactly as Derek says… But I’m confused why HKD is not appearing in your QL screenshots? Is it there now? Why was it missing? Can you set China CYN to do not load if your not using it and can you check that CYN tools/currencies/edit is not using the same ID as HKD?

Also, as suggested. Set all your sources to xxHD. That’s important for you.

    Hi Stuart,

I took out CNY from the QL currency and add HK$, now it is showing the right FX rate (11,02) and the total in Euro is right.
Thank you both for your answer and helping me to solve this issue.

Just to add. The reason that EUR was not shown on the QL screen was that it was the base currency (always 1).... The base currency is never shown...
