Deleting old securities
I want to stop securities that were sold a long time ago from displaying in my list of securities in Securities Detail. The only way I can see is to use the Remove Security option but this produces a strong warning that "Deleting this account will remove all transactions that reference this account."
Does this mean that the balance of the Register itself will be corrupted or is it safe to say "yes" and continue. If not is there any other way to hide the sold securities from the list?

Hi Stewart,
DO NOT delete the security!
Instead, mark the security as 'Inactive'. Doing so will remove it from the Securities Detail drop-down list.
From the menu bar, go to Tools > Accounts
Locate the security in question and double-click it.
In the resulting form, you can mark the security as inactive.

Thankyou Kevin N for your help.
Unfortunately, I suspect I am using an older version of Moneydance than you
are because there is no option on the resulting form to mark as inactive.
(My version is 2017 10, beyond which updating is not possible without
purchase of later version.)

Hi Stuart,
In that case, you can use a kludge to relegate the unused securities to the bottom of the Securities Detail drop-down list and out of the way.
Rename the securities in question prefixing them with an x or z.
e.g. xGoogle, zMicrosoft.
Doing so should force those securities to the bottom of the drop-down list.
You may or may not need to restart Moneydance in order for the changes to take effect.
