I can't offer a reason for the anomaly but you can clear up the
errant data points by clearing them from the security's History
table.

Go to the 'Securities Detail' view of the security in
question.
Click the 'History' button.

In the resulting table, locate and remove the line item(s) by
highlighting it and clicking the 'Remove' button.

FYI the 'Clear All' button does just that. I'm not sure if there
is an 'Are you sure?' prompt or not, so use that at your own peril.
:)

deleting dozens (maybe hundreds) of entries across all the
securities was far too laborious. Thankfully I remembered Time
Machine and so recovered a recent backup.

philtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/399759282016-05-26T20:36:45Z2016-05-26T20:36:45ZOdd data from Quotes and Exchange Rates Extension

Hi Phil,

Ah, OK. I just thought I'd toss it out there.

Yahoo / Google provide the quotes for free so I guess it's a
matter of getting what you pay for. :)

-Kevin N.

-Kevin N.tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/399759282016-06-06T17:27:33Z2016-07-25T17:54:24ZOdd data from Quotes and Exchange Rates Extension

This is becasue the quotes from Yahoo are 1/100 of the previous
quotes you have been using. This exact same issue has happened to
me.

To solve it, so that future quotes from Yahoo are actually
useful, IGNORE THIS _ SEE LATER POST the only way round is to
do a stock split of 100 for 1 on the date of the first imported
price. You also need to go through and amend or delete the
occasional manually input price since that date.

Your graph then works - though I have found that you may need to
change the window you are looking at in MoneyDance, and then return
so that it can refresh.

JimRBtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/399759282016-06-06T17:37:18Z2016-09-02T11:10:45ZOdd data from Quotes and Exchange Rates Extension

Thanks Jim. But the odd thing is that if I revert to my backup
file and wait a day or two (less might work too) and try again, the
quotes don't have this problem. It appears to be a temporary
glitch, and so I wouldn't want to do something permanent like a
stock split.

philtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/399759282016-06-06T17:39:23Z2016-06-06T17:39:23ZOdd data from Quotes and Exchange Rates Extension

images before and after

Glad you can get yours sorted. I'd tried that but it goes wrong
as soon as I update quotes. The Yahoo quotes are pounds whereas the
previous method using the broker's figures were pence.

JimRBtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/399759282016-06-07T16:18:05Z2016-06-07T16:18:05ZOdd data from Quotes and Exchange Rates Extension

I looked at the detail of the Quotes and Exchange Rates
Extension, and see that for stock exchange, there is "London
Exchange" or "London Exchange (Pence)". Mine that were set to that
last had an error message saying "Price in Pounds".

I have now found that if you right click on the Stock Exchange
for a particular security, it lets you alter prefixes for different
quotes systems, and allows you to set a multiplier for the Price.
Mine is set to 0.01, so clearly I need to undo my stock split,
change this to 1 for the problem files, and get on with it.

I tried one of them, and it worked for the latest quotes. The
downloaded quotes for the last two months are wrong, so I have
deleted them back to the last time I had a range of good figures.
(Clicking the Remove button once, then just holding down the Enter
key allows swift removal of a range - just slow down when you are
approaching the date to clear the keystroke buffer!).
Removing the Stock split is also easy from that RIght click
window.
It works! I have lots of detail since 2014 for the one I tried.
NB. If you CLEAR the stock prices, and then Update the Quotes, you
only get a year. If you have a price in already, then it downloads
the quotes since that date.

JimRBtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/399759282016-06-07T16:55:50Z2016-06-07T16:55:50ZOdd data from Quotes and Exchange Rates Extension

AAArgh!

Sometimes MoneyDance notices that the price should be x0.01.
Sometimes it doesn't! Once it multiplied by 0.0001.

Henderson Euro Selected Opportunities GB0032437948 is shown on
Yahoo at a price of 1297.00, so logically when the FIdelity site
shows that as 12.97, and my entire history from Quicken shows it as
ranging from 8 to 13, the Yahoo price needs to be multiplied by
0.01. Last week, that worked. Today, it hasn't. It downloaded the
last 7 days prices as thousands, but all the ones prior to that
were tens.

Some of my securities have required change of the multiplier to
work, some have just required deletion of the last week of
downloaded data and re-download.

Now I am getting depressed. Securities that I just fixed 10
minutes ago, and had a good history for that was accurate, have now
lost that and gone wrong! In the meantime what I had done was
corect a different security, and re-download the prices.

There is something amiss. It needs to be fixed.

JimRBtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/399759282016-06-07T17:14:00Z2016-06-07T17:14:00ZOdd data from Quotes and Exchange Rates Extension

THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE FIXED.

At 18:00 I corrected my Aviva Security, and took screen shots of
the prices before and after correction.

Now, having "fixed" another security, I look at my summary, and
find that Aviva has 5316% growth! It has reverted to the previous
incorrect figures. It is only 18:09, so barely any time has
passed.

The Extension doesn't download data if that space is full, so it
would seem to me that MoneyDance is changing something.

I have had enough for today. If this cannot be sorted, I want my
money back. I will go back to Quicken and input prices manually
once a month or so.

JimRB
