Sync looks as if it it is working, but trasactions are not sent/received

Hello,
I followed the instructions to sync desktop MD (Windows) with the Android app. The app shows the transactions okay, but new transactions entered on the app do not make it to the desktop and vice versa.
Looking at the Dropbox folder, it seems as the desktop application adds .mdtxn files in the "v3" directory, whereas the mobile app adds .txn files in the parent directory of that directory.
I wonder how can I resolve this, and I also wonder why wouldn't the Android app be able to read its data from a user-specified local folder (like the desktop app) rather than binding it to the Dropbox service.

I am not support staff, just a user.

You don’t state which version/build you are running, see under HELP – ABOUT MONEYDANCE. For example I am running 2017.5(1639).
You don't state which version of the APP your Pnone is running.
As a guess take a look at this article to see if it address your problem, if not post again see http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/older-versions/dropbox-connection-p...

    Hope this helps.

    Right.
Moneydance 2017.5, build 1639. App is the Moneydance for Android (there is just one).
    Those are the newest versions.

Oddly enough, it appears as it does synchronize transactions, but only after many hours, regardless of how many times the application (on mobile or on desktop) is opened and closed. Is anyone aware of this behavior? Isn't there a way to force sync? Isn't there a way to teach the Android application to sync with a local folder rather than Dropbox?

The desktop version (excl the Apple app store version) has the options of Dropbox connection, dropbox folder or a Shared folder. the dropbox connection is using the dropbox API like the mobile app, the shared folder is using a network share, typically you may use this option if you have all desktop computers that are networked together with a shared file repository, the dropbox folder is a special case,

The dropbox folder is an implementation of the shared folder, while it is a local folder as such it is under the control of the dropbox client and this client replicates data to the dropbox server, without the dropbox client this would not work, moneydance itself does not have store and forward capabilities which is what the client is doing.

To be able to do something like this there would have to be a dropbox client for the mobile devices.

The shared folder is not a local folder it is typically a mounted drive being shared from something like a file server.

Historically there was a wiFi option but my understanding is that Support encountered many problems that were the result of network configurations that could not be changed, not surprising with a peer to peer configuration that could potentially have to go across many networks many of which could stop such traffic.

I think something like drop box API is probably the only reasonable sort of approach.

The "Shared Folder" option does not need to be on a network share. It uses a folder which is assumed to be shared (or otherwise synchronized!) between two devices, by means which are not part of MD. It could just as well be a folder that exists on both the desktop and the mobile device, and which is kept in sync using any of a hundred synchronization tools out there. If the Android application could only use such a folder just like the Desktop MD can, people could use any well-behaving synchronization means rather than Dropbox.

I use Dropbox because there is no other choice, and experience many hours (or a day) of delays in synchronization; I have no idea why.
