Odd sync issue
I'm running the latest iPhone version and have a peculiar sync issue.
After opening the desktop application I find it necessary to close the iPhone app (from the multi-task bar) TWICE. The first time doesn't work, but on the second re-open the sync always takes place immediately. I cannot see any reason for this peculiarity.
I know I've mentioned this before, but a sync button in the iPhone app to force the action would be a help.

Turn off the firewall on your desktop. (just to check and make sure this is not the issue.)
Open the desktop app first.
Then select Help->Console Window.
Wait for 30 seconds.
Then turn on the mobile device and let it join the wifi network. Make sure both your desktop/laptop are connected to the same local network as the iPhone.
Then start MD on the iPhone.
If that doesn't cause a sync to occur please paste the console window output to this discussion.

I also have this problem. I tried your suggestion, but Moneydance still does not sync the first time I open it on the iPhone. Here is the console window output:

Colin,
Could you please try the following sync method?
I have no idea why this works, and we are working on a new syncing method which we expect will be much simpler and more consistent. Please let me know if this makes the sync work for you, if not we'll move on the other other troubleshooting possibilities.

Angie:
I have long been used to this double opening of the iPhone app in order to force sync. It is nothing if not consistent and is only a minor irritation once you get used to it. If you have a password on the iPhone app there is no need to enter it. Just launch the app, ignore the password screen, then close the app and relaunch. Sync takes place on the second launching even without entering the password - something I discovered quite by chance.

I have the same experience as Michael. A sync button in iPhone application might help by not needing to open the application twice for synchronizing the data.

I have also always had this "problem", but I would prefer it to stay this way!
Sometimes, I open MD on my PC, but also want to check something on my iPhone, without it going into an automatic sync. I would agree that a "Sync" button would be a good idea, which gives you control over whether it syncs or not. However it does not want to be instantly automatic either.
