Moneydance v2017.3 (1622)
Windows 10
Latest version of Dropbox
Moneydance on my iPhone has been sitting at "Waiting for initial sync" for more than 14 hours. I have deleted the iPhone app and reinstalled, disconnected from Dropbox and reconnected both in the app and on the PC. No joy! I have viewed quite a few of the questions posted and tried those things that appeared to be applicable.

By the way during all of this, the Moneydance app on my iPad is working great.

Thoughts??

At a guess see this article and post again if this is not the issue http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/older-versions/dropbox-connection-p.....

    Hope this helps

The mentioned article does not seem to apply to my issue, at least in my opinion.
    1. I do not get the mentioned error code, only "Waiting for initial sync"
    2. I have the latest versions of Moneydance for Windows and iPhone
    3. Also have the newest iteration of Dropbox.
...........still waiting for sync to complete.

OK then can you confirm you are running 2017.6(1652), see under HELP – ABOUT MONEYDANCE. Also, the APP is 2.18
Under HELP – SYNCING what syncing method have you selected?
With this information it will be easier to construct an answer.

I just downloaded Moneydance for PC and the version Downloaded was 2017.5 (1639) not 2017.6 (1652)
    iPhone app is version 2.18
Dropbox Connection is the selected syncing method.

First of all, there are some fixes in the preview build 2017.6(1652) which may help. See https://infinitekind.com/preview
I have two computers one window 7 the other windows 10 and Android phone synced by Dropbox Folder. Initial syncing can take some minutes. However, I have read posts from some iPhone users that they left their phone trying to sync overnight and in the morning, it had synced. From then on syncing was fast.
If waiting does not help, there is one more question I should have asked before constructing a reply on how to reset syncing. Is there only one computer and one iPhone in your setup?

One PC, one iPhone and one iPad. The iPad is syncing just fine.

Try letting your iPhone sync overnight. If that does not work try resting syncing as follows.

    RESET SYNCING
It a good idea to reset syncing if you have changed your syncing method or run into problems during syncing.

    1. If you have mobile devices use there setting menu to disconnect.

    2. Set Moneydances “Sync Method” to “Don’t Sync” under FILE – SYNCING, then click OK.

    3. Use FILE – EXPORT BACKUP to save a backup in case something goes wrong.

    4. Then shut down Moneydance. If you are using Dropbox as the backup location wait till the Dropbox icon states “Up to Date”. This can take some time.

    5. Using your computer, in the Dropbox folder delete the folder “.moneydancesync”. Watch the Dropbox icon and wait till it states “Up to Date”.

    6. Open Moneydance on your computer under FILE - SYNCING, set your “Encryption Passphrase”, set “Sync Method” to “Dropbox Folder”, click OK.

    7. Wait for Dropbox folder “.moneydancesync” and its contents to be created. Check the Dropbox icon states “Up to Date”.

    8. Set up syncing to your mobile devices following this article. http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/syncing-and-sharing-data/syncing-wi...

Wait for your data to be synced.

If in any step you don’t get things how I describe, detail what you are seeing, including screen shots.

    Hope this helps.

I don't have the “Dropbox Folder” option see screen capture.

There are two possible reasons for not having a "Dropbox Folder" option in the dropdown.

The first is the most obvious and is that you do not have the Dropbox Client installed.

The second reason is that dropbox although installed was not installed to its default location.

The Dropbox folder option appearance in the choices is based on a simple check of if the folder exists in its default location, it like a shortcut. It does not mean that you cannot use dropbox folder.

It really is just a short cut for the Shared folder option - to make it easier for people who just user dropbox with its defaults. The exact same result can be achieved by selecting the Shared Folder option and navigating to your Dropbox folder no matter where it may be.

At last success!! It seems that I violated one of my first tenets in troubleshooting issues such as this, RESTART THE DEVICE. It appears that a simple shut down and restart of the iPhone was all that was needed. Sync completed within 5 seconds of the restart.

Thanks for all the assistance derekkent23 and dwg.
