    Just user, not support.

The short answer is that it could be done but it is dangerous and takes a
lot of manual and mental gymnastics.

Each instance of MD loads a abbreviated copy of the database. When a
transaction is added, the in memory could is changed but _not_ written back
to the database. That only happens if you ctrl-S afterwards or quit the
application. (Way back, long ago, MD had a entry in File pull down your fo
    this operation).

But, the is nothing to cause the other instance to detect a change in the
database not it does not periodically read the database.

So if both instances shares the file using a Windows share drive, both
could read, one could be used for updating but the other one would not get
updates _and_ if and only if the first one records the changes on the
database and the other one is started subsequently.

/rant a lot of the issues with the current sync process is due to the
family signaling that changes occurred, typically because of date time
differences between the various applications. Hence, thinking Dropbox would
give better reliability due to "network issues". When you live by multi
master implement ations that are faulty, you die abthouesnd deaths of
    complaints. /End of rant

I am not support staff, just a user.

I have two windows computers one 7 the other 10 and an Android Phone.
I have been syncing using 2017 successfully since November 2016 after an initial problem fixed by Sean the software developer. Since that time, I have had very few issues except the need to reset syncing from time to time.
I use the syncing method Dropbox Folder following the standard setup process see

If you would like to know how Dropbox Folder syncing works, just post.

    Hope this helps.
