First of all, I still love Moneydance. However, any syncing between my phone and computer seems to have stopped in the last month.

Anything I've entered over the last month is not showing up on my computer in order to reconcile. I use DropBox to handle my syncing.

Any thoughts to help here?

Thanks,

You don't sate which version or build you are running, e.g. 2019.2(1868). Also what Dropbox syncing are you using Folder or Connection?

Without this information the following cant be detailed.

Manually update your computer from your phone, any transaction in your phone not in your computer will be lost.
On your computer set Don’t Sync as the syncing method.
On the phone app Disconnect.
If you have Dropbox Client installed on your computer delete the “.moneydancesync” folder in Dropbox. Otherwise delete this folder by signing into your account online.
Restart syncing from the start. Computer, Phone.
Give time between each step for Dropbox to sync.

Hope this helps

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/471898852019-04-19T07:27:11Z2019-04-19T07:33:25ZNo Longer Syncing with DropBox

Hello Tim.

I moved to Moneydance after many years of using Microsoft Money and one of the factors involved the ability to add items to the Moneydance data files from my iPhone by linking Dropbox to my iPhone and desktop systems.

Since then we have implemented family-wide access to the money data which works very well.

Since March this year, however, Dropbox have implemented a 3 device limit to their Basic account and this impacts on the use of Moneydance.

Whilst there are potentially other methods of synchronising Windows and Mac devices, all Android and iOS devices use the Dropbox API to link.

There are other threads on this board discussing the use of Dropbox on handhelds, but perhaps it is time for IK to investigate how to resolve the synchronisation issues.

So now, unless I pay $99 a year to keep using Dropbox, I now have to limit my connections or research an alternative, something I don't want to do.

Dropbox was one of the first to offer synchronisation to the masses, but now it's not the only kid on the block, can IK look at some other basic (free) systems, Google, Box, iCloud, One Drive. Please?

All the best

Dropbox has imposed a limit as follows see https://help.dropbox.com/account/computer-limit

If you already (up to March 2019) have more than three devices that count towards the limit then these extra devices will not be blocked. However, you can't add new devices without first reducing your existing count to below the limit.

It seems that limit applies to the devices that can be connected to the Dropbox product itself, via official Dropbox applications, such as the official Dropbox desktop client or mobile applications.

So if your computer is using Dropbox Folder as you have to have Dropbox client installed this counts towards the limit. However, if you use Dropbox Connection and don’t have Dropbox client installed this does not count towards the limit. This limit does not apply to third party apps that connect to Dropbox via the Dropbox API such as the Moneydance Mobile app.

Any replacement for Dropbox needs to support Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android, most don’t. In its current form the free Moneydance app for mobile device needs a API provided by the cloud server service, equivalent to the API provided by Dropbox.

Hope this helps

derekkent23
