Hi Patricia

For support or others to better help you can you provide further information.
What devices are you syncing between, how many computers, what are there operating systems, what version and build are running on them, e.g. 2019.4(1892).
Are you syncing to only one mobile device, your Samsung Note 9, what build of the Moneydance mobile app is it running, what Android version?
What sync method have you set up on your computers, Dropbox Folder or Dropbox Connection.
When you say “doesn't work anymore” can you give more detail.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/478190302019-11-09T00:58:28Z2019-11-09T00:58:28Zapp on Samsung Note 9

Samsung note 9 and my desktop, windows Desktop works fine. Moneydance
Hi Patty

I see you have already posted the issue you are having in another thread.
https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/iphone-ipod-touch-ip...

It makes it hard to help if you don’t take time to answer the questioned asked to pin down your setup and the problem you are having.

Did you attempt the solution I posted in the other thread?

The post in that thread read as follows:

You have only answered one of my questions that is “Syncing between desktop and this 1 phone” so I will have to assume the rest.
Your desktop is running Moneydance 2019. Your phone is running Moneydance mobile app build 1.15 for Android. You have set up the syncing method Dropbox Folder. Each of these assumptions affects the following.
I would suggest making a FILE (MONEYDANCE on Mac) - EXPORT BACKUP then proceed as follows.
1. On your phone under setting disconnect.
2. Open Moneydance and ensure on your computer “Sync Method” is set to “Don’t Sync” under FILE (MONEYDANCE on Mac) – SYNCING, then click OK.
3. Assuming you have Dropbox client installed using your computer in the Dropbox folder delete the folder “.moneydancesync”. Watch the Dropbox icon and wait till it states “Up to Date”. This can talk some time. Note on Mac “.moneydancesync” is hidden, try in your Finder window, typing CMD-Shift-G and then pasting ~/Dropbox/.moneydancesync/ into the box to unhide. If you don’t have Dropbox client installed you will need to sign into you Dropbox account delete “.moneydancsync” from there.
4. On your computer under FILE - SYNCING, set your “Encryption Passphrase”, set “Sync Method” to Dropbox Folder, click OK.
5. Wait for Dropbox folder “.moneydancesync” and its contents to be created. Check the Dropbox icon states “Up to Date”. This can take some time.
6. Then sync your Phone in the normal way.

Hope this helps.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/478190302019-11-09T20:07:49Z2019-11-09T20:07:50Zapp on Samsung Note 9

Ok, I am totally lost.
1. When you say phone, settings, disconnect - do you disconnect to
internet?
2. When I open moneydance on computer and clock on file, sync, I don't
have theoption to change. It just shows me Sync Method: Dropbox folder
3. Also I don't have MAC, I have windows.
any additional help you can send would be great

Patty Simpsontag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/478190302019-11-10T09:24:40Z2019-11-10T09:24:40Zapp on Samsung Note 9

I am not support staff, just a user.

To reset syncing its important that your phone is disconnected, that is not trying to sync. I asked the question “When you say “no longer works” can you give more detail” but you did not provide comments. So, I had to assume the phone was syncing but incorrectly and thus the first step to a reset was in the Moneydance app on your phone to select settings, then disconnect.

Another question I asked was “What devices are you syncing between, how many computers, what are there operating systems”. This affect the steps included in the reset procedure. Without an answer to this question I had to assume you are syncing between only one computer and your phone. However, the comment in your last post makes me wonder. That is “When I open moneydance on computer and clock on file, sync, I don't have theoption to change. It just shows me Sync Method: Dropbox folder”
When you sync between computers you have one primary computer where syncing is setup under FILE – SYNCING and one or more secondary computers which are set up under FILE – NEW – OPEN SYNCED FILE. On a primary computer you can change the syncing method, but on secondary computers the syncing method is fixed which fits with your description. Have you in the past been syncing to another computer? If you have are you still syncing with this computer and can you change its syncing method to don’t sync.
With this information it should it should be possible to provide more detailed help tailored to your situation.

The 2 devices are a desktop with windows XP and a samsung note 9
I did try going to settings in Moneydance and doing the "dont sync"., then
uninstalling moneydance on my phone. then resyncing and installing again,
but it will give me to option to choose the folder in drop box, but then
says sync failed.
When you say settings on the phone and disconnect, what specifically are
you referring to. Disconnect the internet, or is there something else.

I really appreciate your help.

Patty Simpsontag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/478190302019-11-10T15:52:56Z2019-11-10T15:52:56Zapp on Samsung Note 9

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Patty.

Correct me if any of the following statements are incorrect.
You are syncing between a single Windows XP computer running Moneydance 2019 and an Android Samsung Note 9 phone.
The syncing method you are using on your computer is Dropbox Folder.
On your computer you can set the Syncing method to don't sync.

On your phone if the moneydance app is running you should be able to disconnect the moneydance app from syncing with Dropbox. See screen shot attached. If, you believe your phone is already disconnected skip step 1.

I would suggest making a FILE (MONEYDANCE on Mac) - EXPORT BACKUP then proceed as follows.
1. On your phone under SETTING click DISCONNECT to disconnect syncing via Dropbox.
2. Close the Moneydance app on your phone.
3. Open Moneydance on your computer and ensure “Sync Method” is set to “Don’t Sync” under FILE– SYNCING, then click OK.
4. Assuming you have Dropbox client installed, that is you can see the Dropbox folder on your C drive using File Explorer, use File Explorer to delete the folder “.moneydancesync” in the Dropbox folder. Watch the Dropbox icon and wait till it states “Up to Date”. This can talk some time.
5. On your computer under FILE - SYNCING, set your “Encryption Passphrase”, set “Sync Method” to Dropbox Folder, click OK.
6. Wait for Dropbox folder “.moneydancesync” and its contents to be created. Check the Dropbox icon states “Up to Date”. This can take some time.
7. On your phone start moneydance. You should see a “Searching” message after which your moneydance data set should be listed.
8. Click on your data set name and the enter your password, the Encryption Passphrase you entered under FILE – SYNCING on your computer.
9. Click BEGIN SYNCING
9. You should see the message SYNCING after which your phone should now be synced.

If something does not work give as much detail as to what step failed and what you see. Remember I can’t see what you are seeing.

Hope this helps.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/478190302019-11-10T15:55:12Z2019-11-10T15:55:12Zapp on Samsung Note 9

I am not support staff, just a user.
Hi Patty

Take another look at the screen shot I posted. When you click DISCONNECT in the Moneydance mobile app you are not disconnecting from the internet you are disconnecting the Moneydance mobile app from syncing with your Dropbox account..

Hope this helps.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/478190302019-11-11T00:58:01Z2019-11-11T00:58:01Zapp on Samsung Note 9

ok. on the mobile app when I click on Moneydance I only have the options to

OK that makes more sense.
Its possible that you need to un-install the Moneydance Mobile app build 1.15 and install beta build 2.0. This is a more up to date build that should be more compatible with the version of Android your Samsung Note 9 is probably running. On question I asked was what version of Android is your phone running?

If you want to try Moneydance Mobile app build 2.0 then:
1. Uninstall Moneydance Mobile app
2. Use the Play Store app to find Moneydance.
3. Click on the Moneydance icon to show the description of Moneydance.
4. Scroll to the very bottom of the decription and you should see

Join the beta
Try new features before they’re
officially released and give your
feedback to the developer.

Join Learn more

Click on Join and in the window that appears click JOIN.

The screen now reads

Joining beta...

Adding your account to the
Program. It may take a few minutes.

Wait 60 seconds, then use the back key and click on the Moneydance icon again.

The heading should now read Moneydance (Beta). Assuming it does click Install. If it does not go back to step 7.

Once installed, this may take some time, start Moneydance app.

Let me know if it runs and what you see.

Hope this helps.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/478190302019-11-12T01:40:15Z2019-11-12T01:40:16Zapp on Samsung Note 9

WOW. Making progress. Moneydance is now on my Samsung Note 9! All of the
Hi Patty

Yes, on first sync all the balances can be zero, a small bug. Fully closing and then opening the Moneydance app, as you probably found ,fixes the zero balance issue.

Glad its now working for you.

Can you confirm you are now running the beta build?

Have Fun.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/478190302019-11-12T15:01:01Z2019-11-12T15:01:02Zapp on Samsung Note 9

Yes i think so. Hi Patty

The reason I asked are you now running the beta build 2.0 25 Aug is that this knowledge may help other users with the same type of problem.

You can check the Moneydance app build by clicking on Setting icon, the gear wheel, on your note. Then scroll down to Apps, click on that, scroll down to Moneydance, click on that, scroll to the bottom and click on “App details in store“ it should read Moneydance (Beta). Click on What’s new arrow and scroll to the bottom for App info.

Have Fun.

derekkent23
