I have used Moneydance for a couple of years, this morning my mac would not sync to my iPhone.

    To clarify, are you trying to set up syncing for the first time, or were you previously successfully syncing, and it has now stopped? Can you please clarify which version of Moneydance you are using, and your operating system?

    Usually most syncing issues can be resolved by going through the syncing setup process again (

    My iPhone is IOS 13.5.1 and my Mac is 10.12.6 version. Moneydance is Version 2017.6. I was successfully syncing for several years. I have already tried redoing the syncing setup process.

    According to the purchase associated with your email address, it looks like you purchased Moneydance 2017, which would allow you to upgrade for free to the 2019 version. I'd suggest installing that from since it's free for you anyway, and we've made many improvements to the syncing process since the version you are currently using. You may then have to retry the syncing setup process again.

    If that still doesn't work, can you send me your errlog.txt file? This may contain more detailed error messages about what's happening. If you're using Mac OS X, it should be located at one of these locations within your Home folder:

    ~/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt


    ~/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt

    If you have any trouble finding your Home Library folder, open Finder, select Go -> Go to Folder -> from the menu bar, and copy and paste in:


    This should pull up your local Library folder.

    I'm a fellow user.

    While it may not be a factor with you current problem I would suggest that you will face issues with any version of Moneydance on MacOS 10.12.6.

    This version of the Operating System has known issues with programs written in the Java programming language, the only know solution to them is to be running at least High Sierra i.e. 10.13.x

    Upgraded and tried resetting, deleted files in Dropbox and reset sync several times, very frustrated. Is there away to back it up and wipe out desktop and phone then start over?

    My iPhone and mac are no longer syncing, after working flawlessly for years. I restarted both devices, disconnected both from wifi and reconnected, checked my dropbox account and checked dropbox setup.

    iPhone states that it is syncing as expected according to the "Last Sync" at the bottom on the general window. But that is not correct.

    Dropbox folder has data from today in it but neither device is updating.

    The last item synced was dated 07.26.2020.

    Whoa, this seems like a weird coincidence, Paula. I'm having sync issues too, and the last item synced for me is also dated 07.26.2020.

    Similar story, syncing worked flawlessly for years. Now it seems to be a one-way sync -- items entered on my mobile device are properly reflected on my desktop, but the last item from the desktop that shows on my iPhone is from 7/26.

    We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.

    I've attached a file called " " that should resolve this problem for you. Before using the file, you can take a backup of your Moneydance data set, using the File --> Export Backup.

    To use the .py file, first save it to your computer and then follow these steps:

    1. In Moneydance, select Window --> Show Moneybot Console
    2. In the window that appears, select 'Open Script' then select the .py file
    3. Click the 'Run' button to run the script file
    4. Wait a few moments until you see a message on screen, confirming the script has run successfully.
    5. Close and restart Moneydance.

    After running the script you will need to disconnect the Moneydance app on your mobile device and then re-connect syncing. On your desktop, you need restarting Moneydance after running the script, as mentioned in point. 5

    Please let me know if you have any problems running the script, or if you continue to encounter issues .

    Hi Maddy,

    Thanks so much for reaching out with a possible solution! I followed your instructions, however, and there is no change in behavior. I still have one-way sync: items entered in the IOS app are reflected in the MACOSX desktop app, but the other direction is still not working. Also, oddly, the last items to be reflected in the IOS app are from July 26th.

    Any other ideas? BTW, I am using the dropbox folder sync (rather than "connection").

    I am having this issue as well. I do not know the date it stopped moving data from my computer to iPhone. I know I reconciled July, so those entries were there. I just noticed and even entered in sample items that it is updating from my iPhone to computer but not the other way around. Has your problem been resolved?

    Support split the discussion and set it to 'private', and ultimately referred me to the development team.  As requested, I sent a screenshot to one of the developers, and I haven't seen any followup since then (August 25).

    I’m sorry to bother you again. But did they tell you to delete the app on your iPhone and reinstall? I was wondering if that was a horrible idea or something that might be a step. I do not want to lose my transactions but I can’t let this drag out.

    I don't mind!
    No they didn't suggest deleting the app. 
    They seemed to (indirectly?) suggest something about deleting some files on Dropbox, but I didn't quite understand what they wanted me to do.  I'll admit, I haven't followed up again myself.  The current behavior is annoying and disappointing, but for me the must-have feature of the mobile app is transaction entry, and that still works:  enter transaction on IOS, and it shows up on my Mac.

    Firstly, the discussions were split since each of you has a completely different background (Moneydance version/build, phone type, sync method, operating system etc.). So, we normally set a discussion to 'private ' to request additional information that sometimes may include sensitive data.

    Hi, I am using Moneydance since the last 4 years. I had never experienced any problem. But during the last week my data in my desktop did not sync with my laptop.
    I tried everything that have been introduced here. More than 10 times. I uninstalled completely Moneydance and reinstalled two times.
    I tried to use "" several times. Did not work. Please find below the error code. I checked the antivirus programs. I cannot proceed.
    Please help.
