I have recently upgraded my iPhone to a new iPhone 12. All is OK expect that I have lost the Moneydance syncing connection with my MacBook Pro. Any chance someone could walk me through restoring it please? (I'm not an IT expert!)

Should be easy assuming you use Dropbox?
1/ make sure dropbox is syncing to the dropbox cloud ok
2/ MD iOS app. Click the gear/cog. Choose Dropbox. Enter your sync passphrase entered on main computer.

    Thanks Stuart but

1 How do I make sure dropbox is syncing to the dropbox cloud ok?

2 When I click on the cog in the MD iOS app I don't get a of Dropbox. Only Wifi with option to disconnect, and if I touch 'Disconnect' i get a warning that it will remove my data from the device - which doesn't sound too promising!

3 Is there any disadvantage to using Wifi sync, although I still can't understand why that isn't working anyway?

    I'm a fellow user.

WiFi syncing support is not available for Moneydance releases from Moneydance 2015 onwards there were too many network issues.

I'm relying on memory but there is a bell sounding about being in portrait vs landscape mode and in one viewing mode the Dropbox icon is not visible.

If you load the Dropbox app on the phone you can look in that for the .moneydancesync folder.

In the iOS MD app, if it’s not already set up to sync then you should get a screen where at the top is the Dropbox icon. You touch this. Then connect to Dropbox.

    Don’t use the Wi-fi icon.

    Stuart.

I'm not convinced there will be a .moneydancesync folder on a mobile device, of course I could be wrong.

You see a .moeydancesync folder when using Dropbox Folder on the desktop, but you are effectively using Dropbox connection with mobile devices so I do not think there will be a local moneydancesync folder. there must be one of the server but with connection I think the API is using the server based Moneydance sync folder as the software would use a local one under Folder connection.

Yup. I’ve just checked. If you load dropbox app on the iPhone then in the app you can see the .moneydancesync folder.

If you load it then I would expect to see the moneydancesync folder because the Dropbox app will sync it from the server but the question is is Moneydance using this local folder or not.

No. iOS won’t use this folder locally as , as you say, it uses a direct server api connection. But if you load the Dropbox app and can see the folder then you know that you have a working connection and login on your phone..

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm sorted now - it was just that when upgrading the phone the Dropbox connection with the MD app dropped out. Have restored the link successfully now.
