Is it time for new software?
I currently have Moneydance 2017 installed. Works well enough on my desktop PC, and for a time it would actually sync up with my iPad. That functionality seems to have disappeared somewhere in using OneDrive for storage, and now can't get DropBox to connect.
One article seems to indicate the NETWORK extension is old hat, but MD 2017 seems incapable as is.
Is a new version of MD going to help me? Or, should I be looking for new financial management softare?

I'm a fellow user.
I would make the following points.
- Moneydance data should never be stored on any form of network storage. There was limited support to store it on Dropbox in Moneydance 2015 and earlier but this was dropped in Moneydance 2017 when the syncing engine was introduced and the way Moneydance reads and writes data was changed.
- The network synchronization extension is only supported with Moneydance version 2014 and earlier. The Moneydance API was changed in MD2015 and it was found that there were too many network configuration issues to be able to support peer to peer networking in any case.
- Since Moneydance 2015 only Dropbox is supported for syncing with Mobile devices, this is because the Dropbox API is used for the transfer of data

just a user
All I can say is that the dropbox sync methodology works brilliantly for me, following the rules stated by MD. My wife is bonkers happy that we can both use the software at the same time - either on our two computers, or on our ipads.
Currently using 2021(3032), but 2020(1928) worked great, as well.
You are not required to upgrade, but if your needs change, yes, you should consider more modern financial software. I think a later version of Moneydance should be considered as well.

I believe my devices' problem was solved by deleting and re-installing the app. Have to file that one away for future reference.
