Setting Up Second computer
I am trying to set up a copy of Moneydance on a new Mac laptop. When I tell it to open the data file on the new machine (which I've set up so I can share. the same data file and work on either machine) I get the following
Error reading file: java.lang.NullPointerException
and nothing happens. Any ideas?

I think I've solved it. I set up a new Moneydance file and restored from the backup file. It all came in perfectly.
All I need to do now is to ensure that the Moneydance programs update and use the same backup files.

I'm a fellow user.
Do not use a file share of any type to share Moneydance data sets between machines, we have seen this result in data corruption on more that one system. The way Moneydance works is not compatible with this.
Moneydance has a built in syncing mechanism which allows multiple machines to share information, see the knowledge base article on this:
