Not syncing properly
I use Moneydance on my Windows laptop and the app on my iPad and iPhone, syncing via Dropbox. I mainly update on a daily basis on either the phone or iPad, which both sync with each other perfectly. A couple of times a month I go to the laptop and very often when I open Moneydance it isn’t the same as the latest sync on the phone / iPad. I haven’t found a was to ‘force’ sync so I leave it for a few minutes until it updates itself but usually it syncs the ‘wrong’ way ie it takes the phone back to what’s on the laptop therefore losing all recent entries that have been made.
I’m still using 2014 as I haven’t had a need to upgrade for new features. Can yo7 suggest how I stop this from happening so as not to lose multiple entries, will it help if I upgrade to the 2020 version?

what I can tell you is that the Sync engine has had the most upgrades since 2014 to make it better and more stable.... IMHO - if Sync is a big deal for you, I would consider upgrading to the latest 2012... As for how you do that; I'm sure others will jump in with details.. One important change is that the latest versions store the whole dataset in Sync (almost like another backup); whereas 2014 is not a complete restorable dataset.
I know on later versions in MD you can CMD-S or CTRL-S which gives the Sync engine a kick, but I suspect this is not your issue.
In the past when I've had a txn that keeps undoing the master txn sort of like a permanent undo, I've turned off Sync everywhere, deleted the dropbox sync folder(s), and then started again with a new Sync. Again, I'm sure others will jump in with details.

If you do upgrade, the current version is 2021. If you bought direct in 2014, it should be half price. Not bad after seven years, and you may not need the new features, but an improved sync might be nice.

Moneydance 2014 is totally different from the file structure upwards.
Your problem suggests that the laptop has lost track and thinks it has the latest data all the time. I do not know of any simple way to force a change with this and suspect the only real way is to recreate syncing from scratch.
