Android App Borked After Update
I updated to the latest version of the Android app this week and now all my accounts are wrong. Most seem to be stuck in 2017. Plus there are accounts there that I no longer use. I know the data on Dropbox is good since I have no issues with syncing between my desktop and laptop computers.
Also, the upgrade removed the PIN. Not cool. Can we please have at least a little security focus?

Hi Chris,
I'm so sorry for this problem, and we are working to sort it out automatically. In the meantime, here's one thing you can do on the desktop side of Moneydance that should allow the android devices to sync faster and more reliably:
1) Close Moneydance on all desktops and devices
2) Open your
.moneydancesync
folder in the dropbox web app, as in the following link: https://www.dropbox.com/home/.moneydancesync3) From that link you'll see one or more subfolders, each with a long alphanumeric name. Each of those subfolders contains the sync data for one of your synced files. You'll want to open the folder(s) corresponding to whichever file you are trying to use on your Android devices. You can see the name of the file associated with each sync folder by clicking on the
tiksync_info.txt
file within that folder.4) For each folder you'd like to fix, rename the "v3" subfolder to something like v3-backup
5) Open Moneydance on your desktop and load the file that you'd like to sync. Moneydance will re-populate the v3 folder with a consolidated set of data that Moneydance on Android will be able to load quickly and easily.
The iOS/iPadOS version of Moneydance is still using the minimal data that is synced using the old method. Yes it is faster, but it means that until we update the iOS app to use the full data set, it won't be as capable or complete as the Android app.
Thanks,
Sean

Hi SeaN, I am having the same problem. Was working fine before. Is it just best to do nothing for the time being, as not much of a techy, until you sort it out? cheers, David

No still a complete fail.
The TabA displays "Sync Failed" after adding the password, and the Huawei
P20, produces some data, but lists no categories, and displays the start of
account data only.

To Chris and anyone else still not able to get the new version to sync:
I've uploaded a beta build to Google Play which reverts to the old version of Moneydance which syncs from a more limited data set. If you'd like to go back to this old version, please follow this link to join the beta group:
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceAnd...
The version that I just uploaded is pending review with Google but they are usually pretty quick, so the new old version is likely to be available to anyone who's joined the "beta" group within about 24 hours.
I'm very sorry for all of the pain I've caused with this update.
Thanks,
Sean

Thanks for your hard work. Can’t see a download link yet as you indicated. Do you have an .apk I can download as I am equipped?

Hi Chris,
Yes, the new build is still in review. I've put a direct link to the apk here:
https://infinitekind.com/previewdl/android/md-android-revert-upload.apk
That is signed with a key that may be different to the one in the app store, so it may require an uninstall of the play store app first.
THanks,
Sean

Yes that works perfectly for me.
The P20 phone accepts it. It works as expected. I'll update you on the TAB
A momentarily.

Galaxy Tab A works as well on this version.
Thanks.

No cancel everything what I just said. The totals on some lines are being
truncated to single digits. Going to edit on these lines does show the
correct sums however, but entering them still doesn't show the correct
amounts.

After trying to sync over 3 days (who knew what "a while" might mean) I tried Sean's solution at post 31 above and within minutes had a perfect sync. Two minutes , and a sync update later, I've now got a sprinkling of garbage in my app - and magically, several new bank accounts set up in my desktop file. I am now very concerned, to say the least.

Update: - have deleted all the bogus bank accounts from my desktop file ( including one that presented itself as a Moneydance folder - lots of numbers and characters) and all now perfectly synced and the app does now look very pleasing.

Hi,
I have the same problem with the Android app update. Unfortunately the data in Moneydance2021 is corrupted as well now. Will the forthcoming app update on the Play Store sort it out or do I need to do some maintenance myself?
Thanks,
Jon

I had some data corruption also following the initial app upgrade. Before implementing Javier's solution, I switched off syncing, deleted the app and restored from a previous backup to make sure the data was good. That worked for me.

@sam
That worked for me.
I'm not going to install the android app until IK have worked out the issues.
Thanks!
