This is known behavior (though it's not entirely clear why this
double-open method works, and why opening the app once doesn't). We
do recognize that this is a problem, and are working on a new sync
method for the iPod app. I don't currently have an expected release
date, but we'll certainly post an update on our blog when it's available.

Thanks for bearing with us as we work to improve this tool,

Could you please try syncing with the Console Window open
(available under the Help->Console Window) and copy and paste
the contents of the window here? It's most helpful if you open the
window and clear it before trying the sync- this will ensure that
we only get the info related to the syncing of the app.

Thank you for your reply.

Before I updated you, I thought I would try and remove the
iPhone as a device to sync with and then add it again.
Unfortunately it is asking for the access key. It is that long agao
when I installed it I have forgotten what the access key is or
where to find it. None of the references I could find on the web
site gave any indication of where to find the access number. Can
you help please.

Then I may be able to answer your original question.

Sorry and thanks

Obviously no good if you have transactions to sync. Another app
issue

murkeetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/50401662011-02-12T05:06:34Z2011-02-12T05:06:34ZSync issues

Frank,

The access key is only visible the first time you open the app
on your device- it's the very very long hexadecimal character
string you entered in the Network Sync extension to first connect
your device to Moneydance. You have two options at this point-
either uninstall and reinstall the app (which will display the
Access key) or you could possible retrieve the Access key from one
of your older backup files (from before you deleted the device in
Moneydance). To do that, check out my instructions in the second
post
here.

Good luck, and please let me know if I can be of further
assistance,
