I need to be able to sync my mobile phone to MD and also to my desktop machine and laptop across the wired lan in my house. I installed MD on a HPE server running Windows 2019 server and then followed the steps for setting up the dropbox sync. The sync worked between the server and my Samsung mobile. I then setup a share of the .moneyspire folder and installed MD on my laptop. Any and all transactions between the server and my laptop updated just fine but no updates happen on the mobile device, whether or not the new transaction originated from the mobile device. Did I miss something or is it even possible to do this? I did browse for quite a while through the posts here but did not find a solution.

You will need to use Dropbox sync on all devices. You cannot mix and match sharing types. You also should not open MD twice from a shared location. You could use shared folders between computers, but then you couldn’t use your mobile device too.

    Hello,

The above information is correct. If you also need to share between mobile devices, you will have to use the Dropbox method for all of your systems. Using the Shared Folder option can work for sharing between desktop systems, but not the mobile app, and Moneydance can only use one method of syncing at a time.

Thank you for the quick response. I was hoping that by syncing the file
server first before establishing the share that it would serve the same
purpose. I guess I misinterpreted the document where it said to be sure
to establish the dropbox sync first without sharing the folder. Was
hoping I did not have to install dropbox on all machines but ok... all
    is good now.

    Hi Jon,

Just to add, you don't have to actually install the Dropbox syncing system on each computer, if that's part of the issue. You could choose the Dropbox Connection option in the syncing setup on each desktop system. This has the program communicate directly with Dropbox's servers, without the need for their syncing application on your computers (and it also doesn't count towards their three-device limit for free accounts, if that's an issue as well).

Ethan, doesn't look like my last reply made it here, hopefully it isn't a duplicate.....

I tried that the first go around along with the local sharing and thought it was the dropbox connection not activating and so switched it all to installing dropbox on each machine.  So, with the two desktops having the dropbox app installed and syncing with each other and my mobile, can the dropbox app be uninstalled from the desktop machines, set to use the dropbox connection and it will pickup the current MD file?
